I was thinking of getting the game Space Marine, but wasn't sure if it was a good game or not, or if it is worth buying. I thought I could get your opinions Dakka.

Because it's not out and isn't scheduled to be out until Q3/4 of 2011.

Im just glad they fixed the "problems" the first developer was creating for the games. Im sorry, but bolters are NOT a weapon that just stuns cultists

Also Im hoping that the game does AWESOME, and then because of that, they remake the SM/Orks codices and make them just as good as the crap that is coming out recently lol

To be honest, i'd be pretty stunned if I just got showered by bits of Jimmy the Cultist

Game is due for release on the 28th of March (that's what it says on my play.com pre-order) but from the pics and trailer I've seen it does look awesome. Hopefully it's Playstation Move compatible

I've just checked play.com and it doesn't list a release date at all. Methinks you are confusing this game (which is due this Summer) with Retribution, which is out soon.

I think the SM codex doesn't need an update for a long time, it just got one a few years ago. SM have enough already.

Space marine will play vaguely like god of war, So I for one think it will be top notch.

While I agree with the SM codex enough, they still are missing out on a few incredibly "nice" things that GW has pumped out. And by nice I mean mostly incredibly wtf. Im not saynig the SM codex is junk or bad or anything, but they are slowly feeling a bit like the Black Templar/Dark Angels folks.

Orks no the other hand. This is a touchy subject for me personally. I want them to update the codex badly, mainly because its showing its not really a 5th edition codex age, and its just full of how does this rule work problems. But at the same time, I used to play Chaos, and after getting burned 2 codices in a row I got sick of it and never touched them again. So I WANT a new Ork dex that should be good, but Im scared itll be another "oh cmon why did they do THAT?!?"

@kingcracker: Tbh they need to add more special character's (HQ's, not upgrades.) fix tankbusta's and the flash git. Also bringing back the kommando snotlings would make me smile

couldn't have been 1St January? as this marks a whole new era, shame it could not coincide with a whole new year.

THQ likely set the tenative release date as December 31st simply so that it's 'on the books', so to speak, for 2011.

It also gives them wiggle room to move it up so it can release before the Christmas Rush or in the September-November 'bracket'--which is when most of the 'big' action games usually release.

In a more serious matter, before the new year I asked in gamestop to see if a space marine videogame was coming out and was given a date around december 20th 2010. I guess it would be better to wait until an official release date.

That was the old version that was scrapped. The newer version looks to be a much different animal.

Nice level design very 40k, only the shadows in the far distance seem to be a bit of.

According to the German THQ press newsletter I just got, it's slated for Q3 2011.

Screenshot.. yey, we need some new trailers, my hype has no pulse left.

It looks similar to GEARS OF WAR play style.

I hope its got co-op split screen for Xbox.

If its not multiplayer I will just buy it on PC.

It has a similar style to Gears of War minus the cover system from what I've heard.
