Yeah, like a lot of folk here, I find the modern incarnation of White Dwarf to be too
GW specific, bring back the days of readers armies, conversions and *whisper* non
GW products... I find I'll pick up the latest copy and flick through, then put it back on the shelf. Rarely do I part with my cash.
Whilst Wagames Illustrated can be a good read from time to time, I find that it's overloaded with Flames of War articles since it's now owned by the Battlefront team. So no for me on a regular basis.
Used to read Wargames Miniatures, but the photos and articles weren't great and overall was generally the poor mans Wargames Illustrated - not sure what it's like now.
http://www.miniwargames.com/ I did pick up a great magazine a while back and the back issues looked really good. Wargames Soldiers and Strategy I think it's called, not widely available as it's published in Spain but some of the larger WHSmiths occasionally stock it. Each magazine focuses on a specific era or battle with gaming, history and modelling articles... (can't find a website)
Personally, I know get most of my gaming fix from sites like Dakka Dakka, when I buy a magazine it tends to be SFX (they surprisingly had a full page article a couple of months ago dedicated to wistful memories of Rogue Trader!) or one of the military scale modelling mags for hints and tips...
Other than that there's a few less well known titles such as
http://www.wargamesrecon.co.uk/ http://www.battlegames.co.uk/ This ones quite cool though, with free PDF downloads
http://www.the-ancible.com/ I also used to download this, bbut think it's stopped the free issues now?
