So yeah, offshoot from the topic in OT.

What are your favourites?

Armored core (all of them :3)
Heavy Gear 2
Mech Commander (I'm still an RTS nut at heart)
Earth Siege 2 (for nostalgia's sake)

Supreme commander was the closest thing to a mech game I actually enjoyed playing.

Mech Commander 2 was superior to 1 IMO. But my favorite of all time has to have been Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries.

Mech Warriors. They all rock.

Robotech. I only played Battlecry, but it was still really fun none the less.

I am playing xenogears right now. It was released on the PSN on February 22nd.

But enough about that. what I want to know is, did anyone play Steel Battalion with this?!

Sigh... so many ebay auctions lost ... I still pine for that controller and game.

I've played two mech games - armored core 4 and chromehounds - both of which I hated. Armored core was way too fast-paced, hard to control and not much fun, and chromehounds was slow-paced, not much fun with crappy mech designs. Plus it was designed as a multiplayer game with a thin pretence of singleplayer thrown in at (seemingly) the last minute.

Could anyone suggest a mech game I might like?

Hell, ideally someone should just make the Metal Gear fight from MGS4 into a full game. Haven't played it myself, but that bit always looks so goddamn awesome.

Chromehounds on 360 was OK, though the weapons and builds were a bit limited (even though there were a fair few components). I was in the number 2 ranked clan for a while (Evolution). Not played it for ages now though

Played a few of the Mechwarrior games which were fun.

The last mech game I played before that though was Earthsiege - great game

Really, even mech warrior gold with the added campaign? Not taking a jab at you just curious what made you like it more than MC1 as for me the first had good missions, the second was a little more cartoony which is why I prefer first one. Even the campaign i second one was a little mehish as you bounce between houses. but least colours could be picked.

I do find its salvage system interesting though, flying in and picking up a mech you just busted up only to wish you hadn't mauled it quite as much.

do agree MW2 was solid game, and MW4 with addon packs was great fun while it lasted.

Heck yeah, I remember being the fastest person to press the eject button in my family.

I would have to say Mech Assault is where my love of the Summoner/Thor came.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

It's an old one, but I've always loved the original MechAssault for Xbox when Xbox Live first came out. I played the carp outta that one.

I meant Mercenaries, not MW2.

MW2 was too railroaded, I preferred Mercs because of its general freedom-- not quite freeform mind you, but still more than the other MW games.

I never could get into Armored Core. I did enjoy Mechwarrior 2 and 4. I have many fond memories of those games. I also liked Front Mission 4, first time I'd seen mecha in that style of game.
