Hope this isn't old news, but on the main GW site (read: NOT Black Library), a 'novels' section was added to each of the warhammer and warhammer 40k armies.

For example, Witch Hunters: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat610022a&rootCatGameStyle=

Curiously, Grey Knights were lacking in their Omnibus and Tyranids had ones such as the 'Ciaphas Cain: Defender of the Imperium' Novel.

I guess it's a new marketing strategy to either sell more books or possibly (and hopefully imho) tie things in closer and closer to fluff... either way, now we can toss books into our online GW orders!

sounds like a good idea to me.

If your getting into a new army you can just grab a book for the fluff side of it without having to comb through loads!

You could buy BL books from the GW site for years now, they can be found under the books section.

but you gotta admit that this might be a long needed step toward making the site less complex and more userfriendly

That was a nice add on their part, with the huge number of BL books out there.

While the GW site is a pain to navigate I fail to see whats complex about finding the relevant novels, seeing as they are all on the same page. Unless scrolling up and down is a bother?

my point was that its hard to figure out what books are relevant in which area , fluffwise.... surely the horus heresy makes sense but to a new player the rest is basically just a sea of enigmatic titles. this new option adds clearity and for the less inquisitive the chance to stumble upon something interesting.

If you want a book with some good Dark Eldar action, for example, this list is completely worthless and tells you nothing. However if you go to the 'Novels' section under the Dark Eldar pulldown, it will show you the 3 books in which you'll get decent DE content.
The full list of novels really tells you nothing about who is featured in a given book beyond what's on the cover.

You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'.
