Hey all, I've (just about) finished my hydra build, from my P&M blog here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/376400.page#2981239

It's still very shiny, and the tracks look very dark, as the matte varnish spray coat is still drying, and it needs some weathering powder tomorrow to finish it completely, but I'm so stoked to finish it that I thought I'd post it here

All comments and criticisms gratefully received, apologies as always for the shoddy phone pictures.

Group shot with my other finished tanks, you can really tell the varnish is still wet on this one, lol!

yes it is, especially since Dark Eldar can take aircraft now without it being an apoc game o.o

....are you series....god damnit my friend plays DE...I dont want to have to spend money on a Hydra when I already have to buy 3 chimeras, 1 LR and a couple more guardsmen squads to finish my IG army up.

Looks wonderful, but I do have to question the hatch placement on the turret, your tank commander must be a super-contortionist to squeeze through that!

Really well done! Well painted and built! But then, I like the "original" model, but still that is great job!

Just a heads up on the smoke launchers: They are (nowadays atleast) black. If you want them green, well that's up to you. Still looks great though

shift the turret mount on a chimera towards the back to where the rear top hatch is (a simple conversion), and then make a second turret as a hydra turret, leaving you with 2 turrets for one vehicle. 2 for the price of 1.
If you're worried about not being able to scratch build the turret mount, just use magnets instead.

1. Where does the dome plate fixed in front of driver's cab comes from?
2. The gun muzzle looks like Lascannon (UPDATED, i've checked your WIP link and those guns are made of pewter, which Kits do you take those guns from?)
3. Are missile pods just a gimmick or do they have an actual function?

1) It's a part from a very cheap 1/48 KV-1 kit, I occasionally buy a couple of kits for a few pounds and loot em for bitz

2) They are from Old Crow models, I can't recommend their stuff enough, it's always perfectly finished and stupidly cheap. Linky -> http://www.oldcrowmodels.co.uk/25turrets.htm
3) Not sure where you mean when you say missile pods? I think it might be the targetters that look like missile pods.
