So i'm nearing completion of my latest army (and what will be my first completed army), I'll still be adding stuff down the road but what I have got, the main 1750 is pretty much all finished, just a land raider and predator to finish. I thought I'd take the time to show off some of the models i'm most pleased with, all converting is my own work, but credit where credit is due in regards to the chapter banner, mostly done by me, I was taught how to do the stars, most of them being mine, with 1 exception (the top left star IIRC) the green nebula and the tyrants claw was a product of letting my local store manager at it =), of course its 'not my best work' the modest little blighter.

So without further ramblings on, I present to you my Astral claws HQ options, starting with the main man of course =)





Corien sumatris (for those who dont no who he is, hes the 2nd company captain, formerly of the tiger claws





My custom built Librarian, also of the tiger claws, but I dont think you can see that in the picture (I painted his left shoulder pad in tiger claws colours)



last but not least my honour guard, whose daily duties include stomping around the battlefield, ripping up vehicles and slaughtering lesser astartes =)





There are still a few things I want to add to the army, as soon as possible, namely the special character Techmarine from the IA books, and one of those funky new contemptor pattern dreads, Hope you enjoyed, there are more pics in my gallery, including WIP shots of the librarian conversion.

That's the Company Champion model from the SM Command Squad.

To the OP: What did you use for the Champion's Servo Arm? I would love to incorporate that into one of my models!

That's the missile loading arm from the devastator box,. cut up a bit and a bolter from the company command box stuck on, the clip stuck on top.... lots of sticking things on top of things and hoping for the best =p

And for those who want to no, Corien was made mostly out of the champion bits from the company command squad, the cape from the commander box, the shield s from the assault marine sprue, and the backpack is made from a modified chaos marine backpacks, servo arm from the devastator box set and bolter from command squad, hope that helps =)

I presume you mean Hurons face (the guy in termi armour) cause I've been told corien is actually a rather ugly blighter =p

I am in agreement with everything posted above. The stars on the banner are great. Is that Necron Abyss that you've used to basecoat the fabric? Such a good alternative to black!

Quick rundown of the banner, a mix of regal blue and chaos black, to the point where it is almost just black, not sure if necron abyss would get the same effect, never used it =p (too skint to be buying paints left right and centre). the stars where a very thinned down (milky) iyanden darksun, cross, bringing the 4 lines in to the middle, then the same with the diagonal lines... its important to bring the lines in to meat each other, 8 seperate lines total, opposed to the 4 different lines you actually end up seeing (buy this point you can probably tell im awful with tutorials and such) do the same with a milky mix of sunburst yellow, leaving iyanden visible nearer the tips... and finally skull white (milky of course) closer to the middle, leaving the iyanden darksun, and sunburst yellow visable nearer the ends. for the nebulas, start with a dark colour (ill use the purple one as an example, cause its the simpler of the two and the one I actually did =p) I started with a mix of liche purple and chaos black, stipple this lightly onto the general area of the nebula, the I took just liche purple stippled that on top, leaving the first coat visible underneath, the liche purple coat shoudl be patchy leaving spots of the first coat visible in various areas. next came a 1:1 mix of liche and warlock purple again stippled on leaving spots underneath visible. finish off with a light stipple of warlock purple. and add pinprick skull white stars to flavour.

For the symbol, either be very good at freehand, or enlist the help of your local gamesworkshop manager who is feeling very bored with his current terrain project.... be prepared for 'modesty'. sorry about the general awfulness of this tutorial, if anyone understands what I mean and would care to write it up in better words, feel free =)

Very cool painting, but you really need to paint the eyes on the bare headed model, and the lenses on the Marines! Well painted eyes/lenses can really make a model pop.

hehe, i promise to get round to the eyes eventually, they're the bit that always defeats me, took me ages to get Hurons eyes just right. atm im working on magnetizing my landraider, which is giving me a bit of a headache, will post picks once it is done though =)

The only thing I would do differently is to go back and give a little more attention to the left hand (the flamer?) of your main HQ. The paint on the fingers looks like it's running together a little bit. (Although that might be the picture.) Other than that, this looks awesome.
