I'm starting a new army, and would like to know your opinions.

On one hand, World Eaters from 40k are rushing in my head, and would like to start them with those awesome FW conversoin kits.

On the other hand, the Nordland Empire army is also dragging me to it's side, with the awesome handgunners, cannons etc.

Voted 40k only because I like guns.

Regardless, what is your objective? Fluff? Playability? Competitiveness? Number of opponents? Model quality? Availability of customization?

Yes, coolness perception is completely personal.

If you don't clearly explain to us what qualifies as "cool" to you then we won't be of much help.

And, on the plus side, spending some time to define your sense of "coolness" will also help you make a decision as you'll see much clearly what you want.

I vote for 40k. The forgeworld kits will be amazing all painted up, and World Eaters will be great. Plus I think you'll have the most chances to game/show them off with 40k.

Personally, I see 'coolness' as how much you can individualize your army. Arguably, 40k Space Marines are the most customizable with their many bits and pieces, but then again everyone has Space Marines and they all rather look the same.

World Eaters kick ass... Choose them an IMHO 40k is a better game than WHFB.

Remember Khorne does not care where the blood flows only that it does...

Go with what you think is best

Although I havent seen too many Nordland armies, would be refreshing to see some more

Right now I have 2 plans...

1. Bloodfeasters army, dark red, gold colour scheme
2. Nordland Rifle Korps "Kallblodigade", Blue and yellow colour scheme. (honouring my Neighbour country... Not alot of people here do that )

Khorne, only because it is more likely that you would actually finish painting the easier scheme.

That and I like guns and spaceships

To threads of this nature I always give the same answer:
Take a long and hard look at the imagery, and have a good hard think about what you want to do, and what appeals to you most. Think of the hours painting and modelling you may have to do, and then finally fielding them on the tabletop.

In terms of other practical things, you might want to think: Cost involved, time available to paint, as well as difficulty painting.

Personally I would go for the WFB - the game has more variety, as do the Empire who can be played in different ways (WE being a bit of a one-trick pony). If you are going to be playing them a lot, this is an important consideration. But ultimately, it has to be something you decide for yourself!

Do you enjoy playing either game?

Do you have enough people to play for each game or is there just the one guy in the store on alternating Thursdays that smells of cabbage?

Do you like the people for game 1 versus game 2?

Which would you have more fun painting?

Have you priced out each army and are comfortable with the $$$ and time investments for each?

I can't give advice because I don't know you from Adam, but these are some questions I would ask, in addition to the ones Pacifc just posted.

Good point. Whichever game you like the most is possibly the best answer to your question. Personally, I believe the depth of WHFB is unmatched.
