I love avatars - its how I actually recognize many posters...

I love signatures - it reveals something about posters: what they deem interesting, funny, relevant, deep, and really, what they want to say about themselves...

That said, there have been some really obnoxious animated sigs and avatars, that 'urts my eyes, head, or makes my computer want to die as it stutters over the animation. Especially when one of the posters with such a selection is posting frequently in a thread I'm trying to read.

I know that there is a way to disable sigs and avatars, but that would disable all, right? Causing me to miss out on the vast majority which are not soul sucking resource hogs... No sigs or avatars at all would remove so much...

Is there a way to disable just the animations in sigs and avatars?

Ignoring the person is the most effective way.

Ignore is a feature on the user's profile. Click it and all their posts are minimized.

Either that or use Firefox + Adblock and you can block the GIFs that you don't want to see.

@filbert - Thank you, I think that will work great. If I can get it working... I am not quite granny level computer illiterate, but no where near as up on that stuff as I used to be. At any rate, it will be a good challenge!
