Hello,
I bought the Cryx battle box a few months ago but haven't had time to play and paint until recently. I play in Columbia, MO with friends but haven't really participated with the local game store yet. I am currently planning my first army purchase (35 pts) which I will post in the army list section eventually. I have browsed the forum and like the community vibe.
I have done a lot of reading on WM but obviously have little experience yet. Painting has been a blast to get into but very hard to get right (I get an idea in my head that is hard to properly execute without skill). I wouldn't feel right if I didn't plug my other active forum on GOG.com (Good Old Games) where they sell maybe 250+ classic pc games. Balder's Gate, Might and Magic series, Fallout, etc, for cheap, DRM-less, unlimited direct downloads.
All of that said, I look forward to participating here.

EDIT: I recently purchased a house with a nice basement where I would like to set up a good tabletop area so any advice of cheap-er but aesthetically pleasing terrain building would be much appreciated.

Yeah, I made sure to participate in the front page poll. 
I am curious to see how the trend has progressed since 2010. I am also curious about Malifaux but I only have so much time and money. By that I mean none.

Sweet! You have cookies? I spent 5 years tracking and killing suspected Sith apprentices to in order to take my place in the Rule of Two just because I heard they have cookies. This is SO much easier.
Yeah, the combination of steampunk themes, cheaper starting cost, and skirmish size and pacing made me skip GW for PP.
