Hi guys (& girls)

Just thought i'd post to say hello.
I'm a total noob when it comes to wargaming & i recently picked up 2 Assault on Black Reach sets (For me & my nephew who's 9).
As i'm new to all this malarkey, i don't have much of a clue what i'm doing.....but i thought the models looked cool & the game looks like great fun.
So if anybody out there has any tips on choosing a SM chapter, army building tips......basically any tips for a noob like me, i'd be extremely grateful
If you have any tips, then don't be shy, as i need all the help i can get!
Many thanks

Broonba

Picking a SM chapter is hard. But, you can just make your own!

I would build a list with your codex (You have one, right? ) before buying your models.

And finally, welcome to Dakka Dakka!

If you have your heart set on Space Marines, then yes. The AoBR book is really limited.`

Thanks for the replies
I'll have a bash on google to do a wee bit research into which codex will suit my needs.
Although, i do like the looks of Legion of the Damned marines. Appearing out of the blue & kicking ass sounds right up my street

Welcome to Dakka! The two sets you bought are GREAT, but you'll want (of course) to buy some more Ork stuff (some trukks) to help balance out the points. Pick up the Space Marine Codex, and the Ork Codex, and start off with Ultramarines and Bad Moon Orks. Ultramarines are blue, and Bad Moons use yellow highlights, which work well with the Ork's green skin. People love picking on Ultramarines, but for starting out? They're great and easy to paint!

Avoid the off-topic areas on Dakka for awhile, and check out the various painting project logs (plogs) for inspiration. Please, feel free to ask me, or others, for help in starting up in this hobby!

Welcome to Dakka! Good choice with AoBR, but you're definitely gonna want to pick up the codex.

Welcome!

If you don't find an idea you like in the main Space Marines codex, do a little looking online about the Dark Angels, Black Templars, Blood Angels and Space Wolves (I prefer DA and BT)

And yes.. stay out of the OT... it's scary

Cheers for the warm welcome folks.

I picked up primer, paints n brushes to make a start on my Orks, but haven't got any of the codexes yet (couldn't afford all the painting stuff & a codex as GW is bloody expensive.......especially for their black primer) but i'll get both codexes soon.
I've got the Warboss & Nobz primed & waiting on paint (once i pluck up the courage to start lol)

Welcome!

Choosing a chapter is really difficult! What I would recommend doing is reading fluff for some of the major ones and see which ones you like the most. If you REALLY want to have a hard time choosing then this is for you..
