Am I the only that finds the live-action-trailer trend to be kinda stupid? It's like watching a bunch of LARPers which is rather lame and tells you nothing of the gameplay.

@asimo77: that might be true, but on the other hand, you can usually find hundreds of good gameplay vids up on youtube. An initial commercial is meant to attract people's attention, and what better way to do it than to make it look as immersive as a movie? it might not be perfectly representing the game, but it's a good move commercially. It also shows more effort than "here, some gameplay footage and some text at the end denoting the title and buy this now", that's been around for as long as videogames exsist. I like this new "trend" I think.

I think actual gameplay footage would attract newcomers, casuals, or whatever just as good or better than live action stuff. Showing cool things you can actually do in-game would pique my interest more. Also in-game footage is of course far cheaper to record.

I will admit I might be a little stubborn here because I think these live action trailers are terribly cheesy.

But either way Skyrim will probably be great!

I just paid off my pre-order, and so far every game I have ever pre-ordered has been awesome...Skyrim will not be an exception!

Yeah they are cheesy... but so are the games themselves more often than not. Doesn't stop me from enjoying it though

so many things being released on 11-11-11... I think it's silly. There's no importance whatsoever to this date :V Time measurement is something humans made up. That day will be just another moment in time as far as the universe is concerned.
I bet you lots of things will be released on 12-12-12 too... or even 21-11-12 for that matter, to poke fun at 2012 theories.
I still find the whole idea of a "special date" rediculous. I barely even celebrate my own birthday haha.

11-11-11 also happens to be the second Friday of the month, meaning it comes two weekends before the fourth Thursday of the month, which is Thanksgiving. The Friday after which happens to be Black Friday. Lots of video games get released second week of November, either on Tuesday or Friday.

Thinking about getting this one.. Do I need to play any of the old games to know what's going on? I did play Morrowind a long time ago, but I barely remember it just that I was on vacation for a week and did nothing but sit home and play that and eat a lot of pizza. Never did finish it though.

Not really. The games don't really play off one another too much. Events of past games will be mentioned but the story lines are mostly unconnected.
