Hi guys. Ive been out of the loop for a couple of weeks as been busy but the new cron dex has given me the flayer disease so I thought I would have myself a cron blog.

I have a fairly large cron army that is currently painted purple. I am no longer a fan of this and so it is all going to be repainted a nice new improve colour and have nice new models added.

Firstly a list of the army at the minute.

5 Monoliths
2 Pylons
50 Warriors
10 Immortals
7 Destroyers
2 Lords
1 Destroyer lord
Unknown amount of unbuilt scarabs
2 Ghost arks

I am not sure what to make of the new codex but I have already judged most of its units as pointless past the point of simply being cool. This may well of course change with experience and I would like people to use this blog also as a way of voicing their opinion so we can all learn from it.

Im going to start us off with some pictures of a wip ghost ark. I brought 2 of these just because I think they are so cool. The model however is far more complicated than I anticipated and has to be built is a large number of sub sections and painted before these come together. I am about 10 hours into mine and as of this moments the back driver section is done. 5 of the on board warriors are done the other 5 are wip. The rib section is in its 6 parts and sprayed but the guns are still on sprue. Here are some wips that show some of the sub sections that will hopefully help people see how to build this model for best results and ease of painting. Please not my daylight bulb blew so I dont have great lighting at the minute.

This is stage one of the back section before the driver is mounted.

Then we move onto the back section with the driver mounted. Note how the sides are not in yet. I found that when these are in place it would make painting very difficult.

These are the sides in question sitting next to the ark.

This little section is the front of the ark. It is now being painted as I type this.

Here are the 10 warriors after being built. These all need painting before they can be mounted into the ark. Make note to make sure to get 5 warriors to fit on each side as it would be easy to get one built to fit the wrong side of the tank.

I will take so pictures of the painted back section in a little while down stairs under the strip light as this will give you better colours than my room at the minute.

Anyway let the conversation flow.

Thanks chaps thats a positive start.

Here are some good photos of the painted back section. Got a few little bits left to do.

I have gone for black and silver as I am an old school cron player and want my army to have an intimidating implacability to their look. With dark metal and black with the bright green eyes and power rods I think this will look very cool.

I have picked out the icons in dwarf bronze as this gives a nice contrast to the silver work but it remains dull and old in looks.

Looking very nice. You have a very, very smooth finish going on here. It's probably the biggest thing I personally strive for when painting. Do you airbrush?

I despise models that have to be built and painted in sections, like this 1, but you are 100% correct in that it is a great looking model and yours looks like it it look awesome
when finished. Keep the pics coming.

Thank you all very much for the nice comments.

To answer the question do I air brush that would be no I do not own one. But it is a compliment that some one thinks it is airbrushed.

I have had a bad few days so have not really done any painting as I have just not been in the mood. I have done a bit more work on the ribs and thats about it but the model itself has no more sections on it yet.

For anyone who is thinking of getting this kit be warned it is a very big effort

No the warriors guns are not on the model which is a fail.

The green is scorpion green. A few thinned coats on top of boltgun metal base coat.

Right folks. Not been in the mood for painting crons this week as I have been focusing on my chaos *space wolves* army. But I have just given the ark another rib!

Here are the shots.

Slow progress.

From just those pictures alone, we all can tell this is going to be an amazingly well painted and beautiful piece of your army. I look forward to see your progress through your list.

That looks like tedious fun. How many ribs are there? Too many for you right now I'm guessing. It does look really cool. Hope you get your umph back soon.

Thanks for subbing chap.

Bunny there are 6 ribs in total. After that It has 10 gauss flayers to mount on the sides then all the little thrusters and stuff :/

It is not a fun model I have already sold my second one lol

Yeah, repetative models are not always good to paint. Eg: 100 orc boys. *shudders*
