I have heard a rumor from a few people saying that Matt ward is fired. This was not over the Internet so I don't know if it was just a localized hope. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Because if he is, then I am one happy person!

Happy that someone gets fired in this economy ... special place in hell ...

You shouldn't be, if this is true.

It means Robin Cruddace will be picking up more work...and that's not a good thing.
That said, it's more likely that you're simply hearing a rumor.

Just because it's not over the internet does not mean that it didn't come from the internet... in any case this rumor seems false.

True that. If Matt Ward was fired it would suck for the player. If anything, just police him a little harder on the marine fluff wankery and hire someone to help him with fluff writing quality.

Why would they fire Ward? Because he writes OTT (even for 40k) fluff? I really doubt it.

Ward is good at making codexes that are balanced against each other. Each of the ward dexes is pretty much equal in power.

Just have him write a whole bunch of rules, and have someone else do the fluff, and we are golden.

I am surprised at the defense of Matt Ward. He does not write very well, look at the GK rules and fluff. I am simply hoping he does not write anymore codexs, I starting to not like WH because of him.

Until it's less vague than 'I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who said Mat Ward was fired' i'm going to remain skeptical; there's little reason to fire him (he sells codices after all) and he hasn't fethed up as much as people try to say he has (true the GK codex is a mess in parts, but in others it's fine; even the BA codex isn't as grossly overpowered as some of the haters would have you believe).

Because despite a few parts which are absurdly out there--he's one of the better writers they have, and actually seems to understand the concept of balance.

Until there's a source from someone reputable, this is one of those "my uncle works at Nintendo" rumors to me. Calling this one bogus.

I need proof before I start drawing any conclusions.

I doubt he's been fired over his work, it sells from what I can see. There's no need to react with quite so much such glee, he only wrote some bad fiction for toy soldiers.

We don't want to lose him. We are getting some quality Codices that balance against one another.

Maybe they are giving andy chambers his old job back.

I hope this isn't true. As much as I dislike some of the fluff changes Ward has done, I think he's just a random target of the Internet Hate Machine.

If he's gone, we'll all just pick a new thing to complain about.


Besides, a lot (not all) of the fluff changes he made are improvements (even if people hate them).

People complained about Andy C. back in the day.

If Mat Ward was gone, the haters would cheer...and then realize that nothing has really changed and move on to a new whipping boy.

I really hope this isn't true. If it is it might justify all the ridiculous complaining about him we've had to endure.

He's not allowed to be fired until a Necron FAQ comes out.

I applaude you for your awesome ability to spot that I play Dark Angels (and Eldar). I fail to see how that has any bearing on what I said. To help you out with spotting the most important part of my previous statment I have bolded it for you. Just because an Avatar gets punched in the face by Calgar does not mean that I prefer the travesty that is the DA (and to some extent) Eldar codecii over the more falvourable Vanilla Marines codex.

Seriously. Chambers could not write rules, at all. He also wrote just as much over the top fluff as Ward did, the only difference is it wasn't worded with simplistic terms or parts where it seemed like a thesaurus was used to make it sound cooler.

That said, Chambers was a great ideas man. Implementation of said ideas, not so much.

Y'know given the way Mat Ward threads tend to degenerate and the lack of source on this I'm going to shut it down.

If someone has evidence or proof start a new thread.
