So I was reading the guard discussion thread on heavy weapons and how the consensus is leaning away from auto cannons to lascannons and I was wondering if its time to refit m AC/LC sponson preds to a twin linked LC turret? I like AC with guard because try are cheap, but they are underwhelming. So are they worth heir points now on a predator or still a waste of points?

lascannons struggle to take out av 14 anyway, autocannons are just better, use meltaguns to take out tanks

Good luck getting a meltagun in a land raider's face.

I run a full lascannon predator. Place it properly and you shouldn't have to move it, allowing you to hopefully crack big armor from afar.

Why can't you take both with the AC w/LC sponsons?

Depends what's in the rest of your list.

Build your preds to fulfill a specific role. If you dont have the ability to put much hurt on medium to heavy tanks & monstrous creatures, lascannons are the way forward.

If you're looking to deal with high T low Sv stuff or light vehicles, then autocannons are what you need.

There is no one 'this is the good loadout for predators' answer.

Why not try a HB/AC Combo?
Your throwing out quite a bit of AP4 shots.

I am not a fan of dakka preds, just my personal preference. I have IG so I can always ally in a dakka Russ. Really my question is since I already use LC sponsons, is the twin linked LC turret now worth it's points, or is it still just better to keep the AC turret?

I'm a big fan of the Dakka Pred, or the AC/LC pred. I would never pay that terrible points cost for the TL-LC top

I prefer AC/LC, you're paying too many points for an extra lascannon shot.

Ok well at least we're still on the same page with thinking the turret LC is over costed, and I don't have to freeze and force open my turrets to stay current in the meta.

The Autocannon gives you some more potency against monstrous creatures and lighter vehicles. Particularly those that are squadroned.

If you're using Codex: Chaos, the lascannon turret is very worth it on a Predator with lascannon sponsons-- if not, though, don't bother. Blood Angels, Space Marines, and Space Wolves pay very inflated prices for the twin-linked lascannon at present, to the point where it's not worth it to upgrade.

Personally I am using BA. I've had great success with foot BA and I am trying to figure out how to build a list utilizing the vehicals I have on hand.

If your using your Predator as anti tank role it can be worth taking a extra LC as getting a pen on Av13 is surprisingly difficult. With all those necron players and increasing tau AV13, that can wipe out incoming metla units, are all over the place.

HIDING IN THE METAL BAWKSES!!

For CSM, Tri-LC lives again! Which is great since that's what all my 3.5 ones are built with! (They now cost the same as before)
BT use the old point cost for Tri-LC too I think, so it might be worth it for them.
Everyone else need not apply, go with the AC/LC setup.
