So I'm pretty much ready to start, I've got everything I'll need to prepare a army, but the army its self. I'm so close to buying Tau, but then a little bit of me thinks that there play style is basically stand in a corner and shoot, doesn't seem to be much going on, correct me if I'm wrong. I like the idea of going at a enemy, so it seems that Tau is not the choice for me? again correct me if im wrong Blood angels seem to be attracting me, but the idea of SM puts me off, same old same old etc.
I'm a noob if you hadn't noticed

Sounds like you would like Orks if you want to get up close and personal, especially if Space Marines don't do it for you.

Orks are a good idea or maybe Tyranids which are also pretty in your face.

Be demons. They look really awesome and can ally with chaos marines for more elite shooty units. Oh by the way don't listen to me. No idea about play style. I just picked the army that looked second best. I went with necrons because I was told they are very competitive but sadly was lied to about them allying with chaos :( which now makes me feel cheated because chaos are my favourite looking army :( nothing worse than buyers remorse because you bought a play style army and not the armies who's fluff you like/the look you liked.

Yeah, tau's not exactly an aggressive army.
As others have mentioned orks are good for this. As are several power armor options (including CSM), but if you don't want power armor, then obviously that's out.
Demons should also be fine, if that's the kind of fluff you're looking for.
That said, you can do a lot of armies aggressively. Just not tau. They're the gunline army. Other armies can also do gunlines, but they also have other options as well.

I completely disagree. Tau can do gun line quite well, but they're by no means limited to that.
Kroot and Stealth Suits are good at infiltrating to forward positions and harassing the enemy. Crisis Suits can jump around the place and keep at arms length from just about anything short of flyers. Finally, vehicles got a very pleasing boost with the recent errata - 3+ cover out of 12" is nothing to sniff at.
Granted, static gun line with Crisis Suits and Broadsides is the most competitive choice, but aggressive Tau is far from undoable.

Well first off, if you like tau, buy them. Buy what you like.
As to how tau play, I can shed some light on that.
Normally tau shoot, but there are many ways to do it. You can out maneuver with battlesuits and stealth suits, keep fire warriors in a transport unit you need their firepower, and the transport gives them speed, vespid give you strong anti MEQ infantry killing power, normally only able to provide one volley, and as normal broadsides and railheads shoot, while pathfinders or tetras support.
Don't forget the kroot though. Tons of melee capable guys with rifles, the ability to add cheap dogs and powerful melee weapon systems.
Tau actually prefer to fight on their terms, and with their mobility, they can position and make an advancing gunline that destroys those within range. Between guard and tau, tau are far more aggressive, because they need to be.
Now if you just wanted to go kill things, I suggest blood angels. Their ability to run jump infantry gives them massive speed, and they can easily boost their units power. Blood angels are all about crushing someone in melee.

I seem to manage a fairly aggressive Eldar list built around transports and Striking Scorpions; if you're interested in an in-your-face sort of army, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Grey Knights, Tyranids, Orks, and Chaos Marines/Daemons all are particularly good at it, but in normal (non-tournament) games you can probably pull it off with most Codexes and the right army build (Valkyrie/Mech Veterans can be very aggressive, despite the Imperial Guard's normal stand back and shoot approach, for instance).
