Howdy Dakka,

Thought i would ask these questions to kinda inspire new armies maybe, or just cool ideas.

Why did you start your army? Does it have a theme? Does it have a back story? Do you still like your Army?

I will start:
Because orks are a fun race to play on the board - can easily get a joke or two
It has a American theme
It has a long winded warped back story
I do still like my army.

I play Salamanders. I started playing them by default. Originally I wanted to play Imperial Fists, and then White Scars, but both of those failed because I couldn't do the paint scheme right. Instead, I tested out a couple of paint jobs and found that green was the easiest for me to paint. Hence, Salamanders.

I have been slowly building up my force, eventually trying to build myself all the way up to a full company.

My army doesn't have much of a backstory, although I have named the squads (and the sergeants with nameplates) after historical and mythological figures associated with Vulcan/Hephaestus. And I named my dreadnought after a volcano.

I love my army, and I love it more every time I play it!

I am heavily interested in Science Fiction, and upon finding about 40k, I couldn't keep myself away. IG just happens to be the models that caught my eye, and the rest is history.

My army is themes after my Sci-Fi of choice, the Halo Universe, by Bungie/343 Industries. Specifically, they are painted to look like the Marines from the original game, Combat Evolved

My army is one of the Ghost Regiments of Eridanus II, a planet destroyed by Xenos; they are referred to as Ghost Regiments because they have no homeworld, and nowhere to replace their lost from.

I love IG; as they say, you never forget your first.

I started my Orks because I got bored with my Eldar and wanted something more fun. I themed them after a snakebite clan and they have a back story based on a deadly warboss who lives to destroy the Tau. And I'll take my Orks anyday.

WAAAGH!!!

Orks

Started of as a mob of boyz under the leadership of Gazzy
Then after the release of the fliers it turned into a Luftwaffe themed German Ork hoard.

The warboss found ancient human holotaps of humans in grey and tin hats that other humans feared. He thought he would make da oomies fear him and his boyz!

Imperial Guard

I wanted a Planetary Defence Force. I used Vostroyans as I wanted to make the army colourful and also a little too stylish to fight. The planet is run by a very pompous governor who like things to look proper, even if it dosnt work.

Space Wolves

Wanted an Astartes force from the 1st founding and love the space wolf lore, Plan on doing a 2000 point list for each of the great companies, for example Logan's is filled with TDA and Dreads, Ragnar's is going to be mostly blood claws and grey hunters and Bran's is going to be mostly wolveren

My eldar started in about 1993, when I bought 5 fire dragons for £2 of a friend - we'd played warhammer 40k with the 2nd ed orks vs space marines.
I then started allying myself in on the marine side.
After a while, I started a space wolf army as well as I wanted to win in melee. I sold my eldar. Then I started building them again, but rather than it being a collection with a little bit of everything, I designed an army and made it effective. To this day, I hate minimum squad sizes
In about 2006, I started a chaos army - I'd always wanted a 2nd ed style chaos army - with deamons too. When 6th hit, I was already in place to have a chaos army with deamon allies - Either the bloodthirster with bloodlettersor a keeper of secrets with deamonettes.

I didn't paint anything for years - then I met my wife. She found boxes of 40k, unused for a while and unpainted. So she started painting.
I have about 30,000 points in total, most of it now painted. She's good

I painted my wolves first - because I was too keen on 2nd ed space wolf grey, I went for black with blue shoulderpads. I really like the new wolves colour - but unless I want to strip a lot of models, then I'm a little stuck now.
My eldar are a craftworld that left right in the middle of the eldar exodus. They weren't the first, but they didn't leave it late either.
In the meantime I discovered Dawn of war and it's army painter I used this to preview my colour schemes.
They are the eldar of illregorde - skull white and warlock purple. They get noticed when I play in public.

My chaos are generic - red gore with gold trim. I wanted to call them the skulltakers, but then I found out GW had that idea already, so they are now unamed

My wolves are in a cupboard. With 6 thunderwolves, a wolf lord on a wolf, a predator, a razorback, a dreadnought all still boxed in the cellophane. I don't think I've touched them in a couple of years. I think I did 1 game with them in 5th.
My chaos are still under construction - they are my 'go to fun army'. For when I just want a big ruck. I'm currently making 20 noise marines (with cc weapons) and 20 csm's with the mark of slaanesh. Then I'm going to use Fabius and Lucius. I think it should be fun.
My eldar are my main army - definitely the one I use the most. I think it's because I'm a glutton for punishment. Compared to my other two armies, it's playing on 'hard mode'. So I've spent a lot more time and effort making them competitive.

Orks, because when I saw Warhammer 40k as a Child I thought they looked the coolest

And I thought I could build an army cheap with assult on black reach, I was wrong lol

My army is based off the brave but braver Warboss GrutsMag who rides a bike or a Battle Wagon headfirst into battle and bullies the living squig out of the cowardly but clever Mek Shatz

The Army basically has two different groups who have two different goals
Shatz is probably the oddest Ork you will ever find as he doesnt like fighting, well he loves hurting, krumping stuff and looting but he doesnt really care to die or beat things with his own hand
Shatz hides behind his KFF and avoids all combat, he has a loyal group of Nobz that he decks out with improved Trukks and PKs and the is constantly raiding for Dakka, he loves fighting Eldar and Tau so he can build new things with "da best tek", he is followed by legions of shoota boys and Loota's all wanting to raid some of their own Dakka

Grutsmag takes whatevers available charges forward to kill the most dangerous looking enemy in a display of pure and utter narcism to show that he is "da Badass"

Frist army was Orks, as my brother started marines and I wanted something different.

Not long after this I started to plan “the Borg” necron army , I was going to use different models/army’s with borg like upgrades, My test model was the Ravener/Wraith then I realized that the whole army could be done … well most of it, check out my pics

Then got side tracked on The blooded fists “blood angels” then started repainting them to fit my Chaos (to work with both) they are a sort of tiger stripe. Have to take pics sorry

started a chaos army and what to have all models with some sort of mutation

Side tracked to make THE WARRRGH WING (ork bike army)

Then side tracked to make DA WAVEN WING (ork mega nob army)

And now I’m starting the GREEN DAY ( ork Grey knight army)

I love my orks, I love the gritty ,dirty, slap it together It’ll work style , which gives me heaps of freedom from my 10 all different nob bikers (doc on juggernaut of khorne, dino rider etc) or the “stolen” landspeeder buggies and my scary big warboss on bike.
Sort of a Deathskull lotta theme, I love converting, if I ever get bored with my ORK,ravenwing, deathwing, grey knight army I can always play with my Necron/nid space marine, blood angel or chaos armys..

I have realized I have 2 much stuff….

Why did you start your army?

I started my Ultramarines to paint something beside Blood Angels (who were selected because that's the transfers that were in my first RTB01 box) Back in the RT days, we played more as a RPG then a war-game, and wanted to have multiple forces.

Does it have a theme?

I own the 3rd Battle company. I might not have all the vehicles, and half my assault marnies are fielded as bikes/speeders, but it's the 3rd, and my army. Lists are partial detachments (barring the one apoc 3k list where they all hit the table.)

Does it have a back story?

Not much more then is in the official fluff. One of my dreadnoughts has captain markings and contains the captain of the 3rd who fought in the tyranid invasion.

Do you still like your Army?

I get a little irritated with the knee-jerk ultramarine hate. I was playing long before the new fluff came out. Ultramarines weren't the poster boys back then, crimson fists or dark angels would probably hold that title. But I catch a lot of Ward hate anyway. Still love my marines though.

Black Templars. When I started 40k in 2008, the thought of playing gene-modified super soldiers in power armor appealed to me. I purchased "How to Paint Space Marines" and thumbed through that book, and the Black Templar paint scheme absolutely caught my eye.

I bought the codex, the Space Marine Battle Force, a Black Templar upgrade box, and a copy of Assault on Black Reach one weekend, and I've painted over 10k points in Black Templars since then, including a pair of Super Heavy tanks and a Land Raider Terminus Ultra for Apocalypse games.

I started my world eaters back when the 3.5 codex was out. Originally it started as an undivided army until I started playing with the marks of chaos and I realised that my favourite mark was the mark of khorne so I bought some berserkers and never looked back

I suppose it's theme would be crazy, bloodthirsty dudes who love to chop up stuff in the name of their deity (who doesn't).

Their back story starts around the time of the first foundings. The rest is history.

I love my army. It's not the most competitive, but its fun to play with. I even bought a khornate daemon army to go along side it. Fun times.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

I bought AoBR after playing the Space Marine game. I stuck with Orks and painted the Marines as Ultrasmurfs. I collected a ton of Orks but just kind of put them together the way they looked on the box.

Then I wanted to go further with the Mahreens. It was down to Salamanders or Templars on looks alone. I asked around and everybody said "Dont touch Templars, theyre outdated and suck."

So of course, I went with Templars. That look you get when you tell people what you play is priceless, as is the morale drop when your Black Tide zeals into their face on their first shooting turn, fake out moves with the Chappy, and proceeds to wipe them out.

Dark Angels:
Why?
Because I like the backstory, and I like the way that they interact with the space wolves. The books of Boreal and the book that they show up in the Ragnar saga got me interested

Does it have a theme?
As of right now the majority of the army is Ravenwing, but when I have the cash ill have DW as well.

Back story?
Not really, just started them because they were the ones to get an update when I decided to restart a SM army, sold my first one

Krieg! What a hole...

Because IG is awesome, its the humanity faction (which I almost always pick), now, Krieg has much more awesome models, so that's why I went with e'm.

Not really, just got inspired by a drawing of a Guardsmen from a certain regiment, I think its a FW picture.

5th siege regiment, 6th company, took part in the Siege of Vraks, fought some Eldars.

Sure as sure.

I was convinced to get into 40k after a few of my friends got into it and told me about it. After reading the Eldar Codex I loved the idea of an army that hit hard and hit fast, but had to be careful not to get hit back. Also I was put off by the jack of all trades master of none mentality of the space marines.

I am in the process of changing the theme of my army. Originally it was themed around the idea of an Eldritch Storm and so I was using crackle nail polish for a sort of lightning effect, but it was really difficult to work with. So I switched to using a sort of pastel purple under a light coat of mettallic green, which has a really neat affect.

As soon as 6th came out I loved the idea of a group of Eldar, whose ideals were deemed to dangerous for the safety of the craftworld, joining with some of their Dark kin to attempt to bring retribution to Slannesh. I am still workiing on names for the characters and the group.

I love the army its such a challenge to get the hang of but so worth it.

Kapn Deff Klaw (warlord) - ork freebooter themed armys back story is ork warboss crashed into a space hulk and have ben fighting gene stealers demons and anyone else that showed up with the ship was empty of every thing but orks then started sending out smaller warbosses in chunks of controllable space hulk ships to look for good fightin and work as mercs as well as recruiting more boyz. allies are just mercs from diffrent races or inquisition converted units employing the orks.
and yes i think there awesome still! fun part is i can change up the styles of myorks based on where there warbossis from like my7 hummie mutti gang orks with human skins.

my tau shas o's army is a combo of 2 army paint schemes black white silver and grey black silver and green still working on the story thinking shas'o was" assigned" a exploratory mission after a "disagreement " with a ethereal cast member "and his subsequent assembly by nids. waiting for the tau update before i try fighting with them . and maybe redo there background.

allies i got are a renegade none chaos space marines im calling them the "Wode" , merc imperial guard with a few chaos cultists sprinkled in and a eldar / dark eldar corsair force.

and the story on how i got into 40k is my brother introduced it to me back at Fort Bragg first army was tau to spite him because i didnt want to be another space marine player..

I had played a couple games of the 2nd edition box set of space marines and orks that my friend owned, but hadn't thought too much of it. When my buddy showed me a flier with all the armies, I was instantly drawn in by the bright colors and the various armies. It was like nothing I had ever seen! I really wanted to join in and play, and after getting money from a summer job, I went into the FLGS to buy an army to play.

I had no idea what I wanted to play or buy, and while there my buddy told me not to play Orks or regular space marines as there were two people who played those (side note: I have never met let alone played against those two players ) I settled on either Imperial Guard or Space Wolves, and the fact that the FLGS had the Space Wolves Battleforce made it an easier purchase. Besides, it had the "Rhino Tank" which at the time I thought was such a cool name for a tank (with no knowledge that it was simply a transport). On that fateful day I started a long, long journey into wargaming

Most of my armies all started in 2nd ed - Nids (ah the old Tyranid attack models and Space Hulk), Wolves (bought from Virgin Megastore, no GWs in Dublin in those days!), Eldar (bought from a friend and added to).

My IG started around 3rd ed probably with some tanks and old metal Mordians I had.
I've since made them into a fully functioning Mordian army with auxilliaries.
ac
Orks were all 2nd aswell but most of the models tbh were so bad, I gutted them and bought the more recent GW models - a few old Dreads and characters survived with some artillary units.
They are Goff themed as I always liked them the most with their checkered armor and attititude.

My Eldar started as a very mismatched force, since my mate had all sorts of crazy going on but I've since repainted them into Ulthwe and made them much more coherent.

Nids are mostly 2nd ed models with some new additions and will be stripping and repainting them red/white in the future.

Dont really have a back story to any of them bar the Wolves who were supposed to be mainly a Ragnar blackmane themed Battleforce.

And yes, I still love each of them equally to this day. My Eldar funnily enough are probably my favs.

Friend got me hooked way back in high school. He'd always go on about all these different factions, and how they're great at such and such, and then we got to the Guard. The mental image of swarms of average humans having to fight... well... everything else he described was too much to pass up.

Not much of a theme though, guys with their guns. Incidentally, given the limitations that the Guard has in the fluff, I've actually branched out into Space Marines.

Still like em.

First Army I ever tried back in 3rd edition. I loved the tanks
I also love the thought of in the 40K setting everyone has super high tech weapons and enhancements, except the IG. All the odds are stacked against IG. All they have is a book, courage, and a flashlight to spread the Emperor's fury!

I do love SM though and plan to start one up here soon. The hobby is so addicting that I also want to start a Tau Army, Eldar, and GK's. All work for down the road, but I love being da good guyz!

Why did you start your army? I started my Salamanders because I loved the Idea of Burning out the enemy, (wow that sounds a little serial killerish) but I also loved the fact that they were about protecting the little man and not just the Idea of Mankind. However my Chaos warband,Steel Brothers, I started as an opportunity to practice my conversion skills, and different painting styles because all I have to do to keep a unified look is to add my own mix of silver and black. I chose silver because of a book series I read a while ago where the protagonist's main enemy, Nemisis, could be recognized no matter the shape it took because it had to include the color silver in its disguise. And I took that into my own warband.

Does it have a theme? Salamanders is Salamanders, while Steel Brothers is based on using the Four gods. Trying to include one CSM unit and at least one Cult troop of each god. Conversion attempts are encouraged for myself
.
Does it have a back story? Steel Brothers were four Aspiring champions abandoned during the 11th crusade. They split from the black legion and gathered their own troops dedicated to each god and worked together to bring more glory to the gods. Each of the original Champions have since gained Daemonhood and now let their lieutenants direct the warband while they attend to the desires of the Gods. They have clashed mostly with the Crimson fists and Salamander chapters. Though they have appeared across the galaxy.

Do you still like your Army? I love both my armies but I'm probably going to strip and repaint my salamanders when I get the time.

Why did you start your army?
The OP actually had some extra guardsmen lying around. I was a new roomate and he wanted to play warhammer. The rest is history.

Does it have a theme?
When I started, I thought the fluff was ridiculous, so I modeled some of my models to be ridiculous, such as having pask stand on top of a punisher waving a flag instead of using the (rather boring) tank commander model, or a soldier on a HWT calling for a charge. Since I didn't have much to work with, I had to be creative and do a lot of conversions. My punisher, for instance, hosts a modified assault cannon instead of the normal chaingun, and my Valkyrie is fitted with an autocannon sponson. My guardsmen are a mix of Catchitan and Cadian. The end result is unique and flavorful. My guard don't look like a huge wall of nameless mooks, but rather a tired regiment with a story to tell.

So, I guess the theme is a "dogged desert scrappers" due to the patchwork nature of some of their vehicles and ragtag-nature of the mixed Cadian-Catchitan regiment.

Does it have a back story?
I figure the impirium has lost track of them long ago, and their papers are buried under mountains of more pressing paperwork in some official's office. So they commission a rouge trader to ferry them around and act as a mercenary force, taking just enough ammo and reinforcements to scrape by another day before moving on.

Do you still like your Army?
Yes, although my painting skills have improved quite a bit since I've started, so I'm a bit unhappy with the paintjobs on some of my earlier models. Still, I love the theme and uniqueness of my regiment. I've gotten several positive comments at the FLGS to the effect of, "Wow! You're guard has character!" and "I'm glad I don't have to play against another wall of Cadians." and "Your guard must think that they are orks or something, in a good way."

My Army is Imperial Guard.

I started it because I think the idea of humans winning over impossible odds to be heroic. And tanks.

Well, it does if you count "rebel guard" as a theme. They are modeled to have their aquilas defaced in some way and with stars painted on them. I'm gonna paint them in a desert camo sort of scheme. As it stands now, though, it's going to be standard cadian plastics repainted. In the future, though, I'm going to start making models for the reptilian xeno race they annexed.

It has somewhat of a backstory that's always evolving. I'll post it once I start doing batreps.

I love my army. Shooting things is awesome.

Glad to see so many of my Imperial Guard brethren participating in this thread.

Why did you start your army? I had played Space Marines in 2nd and 4th Edition, with a bit of Dark Eldar and Necrons in between. When 5th Edition hit, I found that I really wasn't in love with any of my armies, so I didn't play much. Then, Wargames Factory announced the release of their Greatcoat Shock Trooper line. At the time, I didn't have a lot of spare cash for hobby stuff, so the introduction of a comparatively cheap source of 40k models was very much a thing that I was enthusiastic about. Moreover, I've always loved the look of the Helghasts from Killzone and the Panzercops from Jin-Roh (not the mention the Cobras from GI Joe back in the 80s ), so I was definitely on board for an Imperial Guard army. A trip to the FLGS for the codex, and a very large pre-order with Wargames Factory later, I was ready to enlist.

Does it have a theme? My army is affectionately known around my gaming club and among my friends as "the Space Germans." Wargames Factory's Greatcoat Troopers already look Germanish, thanks to their long coats and stahlhelms, but I didn't exactly do much to dissuade that label. First off, I ended up giving a lot of my units and characters faux-German names (like "Jagdmacht," which is supposed to mean something like "Hunting Force"). Secondly, I ended up using a Tiger I scale model kit as the basis for most of my armor. I actually wanted to use a Russian tank kit (for the price, I just don't care for the official Leman Russ kit) for my Russes, but again, I started this army on a shoestring budget. By chance I happened upon a particular Tiger I kit that was incredibly cheap, and the rest is kitbash history. In terms of a strategic theme, the army is very strongly oriented around outflanking and encircling its opponents.

Does it have a back story? A bit of one. Todth, the world of the Jagdmacht was a progressive, industrious human paradise, cut off from discovery by the Great Crusade by disturbances in the Warp. In the late 40th millennium, when the Warp Storms lifted, the world came under invasion by an Ork Waaagh, which eventually conquered the people of Todth. The Todths were forced into slavery, their factories suddenly bent to churning out Orkish war materials. After centuries of oppression, the enslaved humans finally had an opportunity to start a rebellion, which upended the rule of the Orkish powers-that-be (who were themselves depleted by recent infighting among local Orkish warlords) and, after a bloody crusade, drove all greenskins from the world. Less than a century later, Todth came into contact with the Imperium, which went poorly as the Todths weren't particularly willing to bend their knees to anyone. The Space Wolves were dispatched to bring the world to under the reign of the Imperium, which began a second, brutal invasion of the world. The Todths resisted and sold their lives dearly, but the Astartes were simply beyond their capacity to defeat. Then, without warning, a strike force of Eldar descended upon the world and attacked the Space Wolf forces. At that moment, the commanders of the Jagdmacht made the fateful decision to turn their weapons against the Eldar and aid the Space Wolves against the Xenos forces, preferring to die at the hands of humans rather than fight at the side of aliens. After a short, violent campaign the Eldar were driven from the world, and the Todths accepted an offer of clemency and submission to Imperial Rule issued by the commander of the Space Wolf forces involved in the campaign. The Jagdmacht are just now reaching the point where the Departmento Munitorum trusts them to operate on their own, and a second generation of regiments have just recently been pulled from the world's populace.

Do you still like your Army? Very much so. I've really enjoyed the converting and painting that has gone into my army, though I've learned a lot from the process of building and painting them and now I feel like I could do a much better job on them if I started all over again . It's also still a fun army to play, though I wish that Guard didn't have the reputation with some players that they do (particularly that it's typically a WAAC army favored only by tournament guys).

I'll give this a go, also a fellow guardsman (we're everywhere )

Why did you start your army? Well a while back (end of 3rd ed 40k) I got a WD, mostly for the LOTR minis. In it was a section about chaos daemons and there was a picture of some strom troopers holding the line against bloodletters. They looked really cool and heroic, I though to myself "Stuff these demons and super soldiers, I want to be those guys" rest is history. Started with steel legion but that got expensive so I sold them for a fair bit and got cadians.

Does it have a theme? My army is based off a combination of real world armies, mostly NATO forces. The paint scheme (such as it is) is a desert scheme. I use a lot of armor and heavy weapons and try to maintain a combined arms approach using heavy weapons, armor, mobility and air power equally. In reality I can field whatever I want with a preference for russes and big guns.

Does it have a backstory? Yeah, the Hawkmoth 75th Heavy Brigade Combat Team hails form the Imperial world of Hawkmoth, a militarized Imperial world in the Ultima Segmentum. Hawkmoth is a military dictatorship whose citizens believe the emperor is manifested through his most holy imperial guard ie guardsmen are the living manifestation of their god. They worship soldiers like saints and it is a great honor to be selected for service for the imperial guard. Every year the PDF brigades send their best to be considered for service. They under go the most greulling training imaginable but it makes some of the finest soldiers in the imperium. The guardsmen, used to being worshiped as saints are arrogant but incredibly skilled. Rather than regiments Hawkmoth troops fight in Brigade Combat teams, mobile combined arms formations that are used as sort of "fire brigades" through the segmentum, thrown into where the fighting is thickest. Within the Hawkmoth guard there exists the shadow corps, trained by the schola progenium and ex-kasrkin the Shadow Corps are the best hawkmoth has to offer, the serve as spec ops unit and body guards for high ranking generals. (To represent them I have kit bashed my own plastic storm troopers). Hawkmoth brigade combat teams see service all over the imperium, flying form one warzone to another to take part in a big push or desperate defense.

Do you still like your army? Hell yeah, the Imperial Guard is one of the best armies in 40k in my not at all biased opinion and I will play them until I grow old

We're watching you... scum.

Why did you start your army?
- When I started playing Warhammer 40k and getting into these things, I really wanted my army to inspire me. So I ended up with Imperial Guard, just slightly over Eldars. When I now think about my decision, I picked right.

Does it have a theme?

- Yes. I wanted to make something a bit more rare (I did start with cadians). I searched until I found Elysians and Harakoni Warhawks. But Elysians had ready models (and very expensive ones) and I liked the idea "converting" the troops myself. Harakonis didn't have ready models and I also loved the backstory behind them (air cav for high altitude). So I started to get everything I needed to start building this army. It's not finished, just two squads ready among one chimera.

Does it have a back story?
- I also love playing the game among creating the army. I wanted to make quite effective armylist, which still applies somehow to my fluff. I plan to make a campaign for my gaming group, which includes CSM, Tau Empire and Imperial Guard. I have started already making a story behind it and got few words written:

After cruel 13 days of fighting, Tallarn Officers called the battle being lost. Infantry of 95th Tallarn has been wiped out, exception a missing platoon, among great leader Al Ráhem. Last message to system headquarters came from Tallarn 668th Armored, sending a distress signal for immediate aid against Chaos Space Marines surprise occupation.

**Decoding**
……
Signal: Weak / Location: Planet of Tallarn, Middle East continent
Unit ID: T-668-1-21,
Verifying identification…
GREEN – Battle Tank 1-21, callsign “Iron Camel”
…….
Receiving voice message:

“1-21 of Armored Core to… all…. Imperial Units, we require immediate CASEVAC, we’ve been overrun and our trenches being occupied. Two thirds of armor either destroyed or…wrecked, break.
....
We got no word about 95th infantry up ahead, we assume status KIA. We got our artillery of 212th in place twenty clicks on our six, but we can’t move, repeat, we can’t move, break.

We won’t make it. Intel says Chaos troops have….. Regiments on the planet, heavy…. but not mobile. They possess WMD, repeat, WMD. They’re pushing… towards east. We got civilian lives there, circa 15 000, city of Harad, break.”

Signal broke, connection lost.
**

“Put me through to Segmentum Solar, communication center.”
- Code, sir?
“994-Mike-4-India”
- Planet Harakon online.

“…..well sir we do have 31st Regiment available, quite seasoned one. Mostly seven bullets old, some only two. But I’m not sure does this serve the interest of the Imperium. Tallarn planet has endured many wars, but I won’t bet my silver on this one…”
....
“Roger sir, 31st Regiment, orders issued, destination planet of Tallarn.”

So I have Al Ráhem in my list and his platoon command squad is full of tallarns, last survivors of 95th Tallarn infantry. Chaos Space Marines has occupied planet of Tallarn and Harakoni Warhawks are send to evac everyone they can and face the chaos troops. Warhawks are mobile strike force, including chimeras. I have some ordnance in my list, they're Tallarn artillery of 212th. As these fights will be fought on planet of Tallarn, I'm making desert table for our rounds, including some buildings among great yellow mountains. I also paint my army to fit the colors of the battlefield, so they will look like NATO forces in Afghanistan. Though my troops have red stripes on their armor, presenting they are veterans. Freshies has white stripe.

Do you still like your Army?
As I mentioned earlier, I have only two squads and one chimera ready. I love my models already and can't wait to see my army in action.
