So, I have batted around the idea of starting a Blood Bowl team for a while now. I played the computer game, and really enjoy it, and have looked at the rules and want to check it out. If I did start it, I would want to make a Dark Elf Team, however. The Starter set comes with a human team and a orc team, neither of which i am interested in. Is there somewhere I can buy just the board/dice/score card (everything BUT the teams)? Or, would it be easier to just buy a set new, and sell the two teams?

Well, you can download the rules as a PDF and you could probably pick up a second hand copy of the box set (from any edition - the dice and components are more or less the same no matter the era) from Ebay or a re-seller on Amazon or something. Hell, you might even get lucky with a Swap Shop post here.

To be honest though, you might as well suck it up and just buy a copy of the boxed set even if you don't plan on using the teams within. You might be able to sell/trade them, although don't expect much from them.

Ebay is your friend - there should be plenty of 2nd and 3rd ed sets kicking around on there.

The question is: Is there a league playing in your area?

If there is: Just buy the Dark Elf team, download the current rules, and use standard dice. Then you've got everything but a field. which you can also download and print, or just make with a sheet of foam.

If there is no league: Buy the game. Your gonna need to recruit coaches, and to do this you need two teams anyway to demo. A nice board and dice with the symbols are nice eye candy too for recruiting coaches.
