I hear that book 4 introduces the Ten Thunders. Does it have a lot of background or stories about them? What else is in the book? Basically, do you think it is worth it for someone who would just want the background and probably not get a chance to play?

Please let me know, though, if it has complete rules, as that might also make it easier to get into the game at a later date. I know I can get the rules in a free abridged version online, so I'm not too concerned about them, but bonus content is always nice.

Also, it looks like Wyrd is in the process of adding Ten Thunders to their website. Last time I checked, none of the links were completed. Would this just be the background from the book?

Book 4 contains all of the stories relating to the 10 Thunders and their interactions with each of the new masters. Some of the fluff deals with how the master came to be "employed" by the 10T, and their first steps at "revealing" themselves to Malifaux. For the most part the 10T have been behind the scenes pulling some strings here or there to get things where they needed to be. There is also some short stories that don't have much to do with the 10T, but flesh out the stories of the world.

If you just want the background and fluff, I'd say pick it up since there isn't a "Malifaux Fluff Wiki" kind of like the 40k Lexicanum. It doesn't have the rules to play the game, but it does have the rules for the hiring restrictions for 10T models depending on what faction the master is working for. So like what models Jakob Lynch can hire as a Neverborn Master and what models he can hire as a 10T master.

They're slowly adding the 10T to the site, the crew creator has the models already, but at the same time there isn't much on their website to begin with... It's not updated very often. The links they'll be adding won't contain the stories, but it'll be a brief overview of the faction.

Book 4 doesn't cover the Ten Thunders background much- it's mostly short stories (most but not all about Ten Thunders characters).

If you like the Malifaux writing style, I'd definitely recommend it; if you want background, I'd wait for the RPG sourcebook.

There are some short stories in the book and the one about the Library is actually a pretty good read. The rest is mostly about the Characters themselves (rules, stats and such). Definitely get it if you plan on picking up the Thunders. It has less comprehensive "fluff" than the typical 40k codex so you might want to "borrow" a friend's copy if all you want to do is read the stories.

The RPG is likely going to be a long way off, though. Otherwise I'd agree.
