Hey there,
Finished my first model- I've been experimenting with different skin tones , I don't like this one much.
I don't have a drill atm so I can't drill barrel, I also struggled with high lights and often put a much thicker line then intended.
Anyways- feed back would be appreciated- brutal truth is best.

Looks good; love the checkered pattern on the axe, however you have caused me some neck strain with those pictures

Thanks! I'm not sure why it posted side ways lol.

I've got another one almost done with the sick green which I prefer.

I'm finding my yellow to highlights to be too obvious tho?

I start gw tausept ochre then vallejo gold yellow then moon yellow.
I'm struggling making it gradual.
I thin my paints 1:1 with a medium but if I go any thinner it's so watery that it creeps everywhere and I have to dab it off asap

Need's based. the Gun barrel needs drilled and my god turn the pic right side up...

Other than that it looks pretty good I like the checkers on the axe.

I would add some rust effects to the metal areas namely the axe, gun and shoulder pad. and maybe some mud on the boots.

I actually really like this guy. The unsaturated tones are kind of a nice change from the GREEN AND RED schemes of most orks. Honestly I can't see your problem with the highlighting, it seems pretty even to me. The only thing I can say is that maybe the yellow shoulder pads are kind of blend into his skin.

Thanks for all the feedback!
Any suggestions for techniques adding dirt to boots and rust to metal?
I've almost finishes a few more - the warboss is turning out very well.

I've never based a model before - so we'll see how that goes

I agree, the skin looks really good while you dont like it (as you stated) i think you've got the muted tone nicely down. I think all the colours look pretty well blended and the crevices look suitably darkened and shaded.

I am looking forward to seeing your next model to get a comparision keep us posted
