Hi,
I have been working with AutoCAD to produce some 3D designs that when cut will produce some neat looking 28mm terrain. I plan to send it to a local laser operator and get a whole city done.
Anyone try this before?
First up will be my custom laser cut HDF and acrylic to street props. What do you guys think, has it got the Infinity feel?
Anyone have any ideas, experiences or advice that could improve these?

There are a bunch more pictures available on my blog.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Not bad - a little simple compared to some stuff on the market but nice all the same.

Do you have any estimates on how much it costs to do this compared with buying "off the shelf" from other companies with their own ranges of scenery?

@ OP there is a thread over on the official forum with free drawing files for laser cut terrain. Some of the replies on that thread mentioned prices for getting stuff laser cut but it seemed to vary pretty wildly depending on where people were getting it done.

I downloaded the files from the other thread and looked at getting some stuff cut locally. There is a local Fab Lab that provides free access to laser cutters etc but time is limited and you have to book in advance. They sell some materials on site but they didn't have mdf available. I contacted them to see if they could cut it and they said they could if i brought the material along. A sheet of mdf 2.5m x 1.5m was about £6 so the cost of materials is pretty minimal if you have access to the cutter (no not that cutter! ).

Well this is certainly a very original idea! Will be looking forward to seeing what kind of progress you make with it (although liking what has been done so far! )

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I am sending off for cutting quotes today. I will post up some picks when I get my stuff done.

@bantha_beast do you mean the paper templates shipping containers in the infinity site? Or is there a different resource that I have missed?
I was going for something unique that would make my mates envious.

I wish there was a local place I could get stuff cut for free. Make sure you post when you get your stuff cut.
