SPRING, Texas – At least one person was confirmed dead in a stabbing that took place at a high school in Spring, located about 24 miles north of Houston and just south of The Woodlands.

Wednesday morning, an air ambulance was called to Spring High School following a stabbing report on campus, a hospital spokesman said.

Among those injured was a 16-year-old boy, who was transported by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office confirmed one person was dead and a Life Flight spokesman said several people were injured.

The incident was reported shortly after 7 a.m. About an hour and 15 minutes later, video captured images of officers handcuffing two males outside the school.

Unconfirmed reports on Twitter indicated the injuries occurred during a fight in the school's cafeteria.

KHOU 11 News Reporter Jeremy Desel spoke with a parent who gathered with others across the street from the school.

“I’m just trying to make sure that my child is OK,” said Jan, whose son is a junior at the school. "I’ve actually texted and I’ve actually called, they are receiving phone calls. They're in their first-period class and everything is calm.”

According to some parents, many students were unaware of the incident.

“It’s unbelievable, but it seems like it’s a very controlled situation and I’m actually going to go to work," Jan said. "There's nothing I can do out here. I just wanted to make sure they're safe."

Another parent at the scene said he was frustrated at the lack of information coming from police.

“Well, number one we’re concerned about our kids," the father said. "One of my kids was kind of there in the area when they saw it and they’re frantic and scared, and here the police are telling us to move our vehicles. [My son] told me that he's scared and he wants to come home."

The father said his son described the scene to him through text messages.

“They were walking out of the area when it happened, but they sent pictures to me of all the blood everywhere," he said. "All they texted and told me was one died and, out of the total, five were stabbed. All students."

Administrators said all the parents of students affected in the incident were notified.

Coordinated stabbing does seem odd. Usually stabbings are solo acts outside of TV prison movies right? Stabbing seems like a very personal way to attack someone.

As Alf says, a coordinated stabbing is unusual outside prison shankings. Is there much/any gang activity in the area?

"Coordinated stabbings" are unusual even in prison shankings.

Stabbings are primarily opportunistic occurrences with a small amount of premeditation within.

Some. Its not as bad as GunsPoint (Greenspoint), but its in the general area. As I said amateurs. Real thugs wouldn't be in school and would be spraying you with their "gats." Remember the safest place with a thug is to be what they are aiming at...

Yes.

Most high schools start at anywhere from 7:10 to 7:50 am.

Yep. First bell rang at 7:15 am at my high school, and those among us who took the bus usually arrived anywhere from 6:30 to 7:00.

All this wouldn't have happened if it weren't for Obama! The victims were carrying guns, they were only killed out of self defense! If we had stricter laws on gun control this could have been avoided...

But seriously, what the actual feth? Who coordinates stabbings at a high school? Kanluwen actually has it right here - stabbing someone is generally opportunistic, and therefore highly unlikely to be a group thing.

Proof guns are not the problem, it is all the idiots with not discipline and stuff. On a side not wonder if Obummer will now try to start a knife ban....I can see it now: High capacity knife blades are to banned, any knife that can shank over 2 inches and isnt a butter knife.

The best part is when he realizes that in most places, knives are already regulated on size, etc...

1) Let's give the President the respect he deserves, he is after all, our leader whether you like what he's done or not.
2) Let's not make this about guns, gun laws, etc... one person has died, and several others have been injured. Stabbing is a very painful thing, and no one needs to go through with it, let alone teenagers.

I did the math. The approximate amount of respect any given President of the United States deserves is 0. Meanwhile the amount of respect Obama has earned is a very small number indeed.

Yeah, to 'justify' gun control. Because they just want to ban guns for no particular reason, and then latch on to dead school kids as excuse to do so. No thought at all that they might believe, rightly or wrongly, that less guns might mean less dead school kids

I mean, fething come on. Even if everyone argued sensibly and in good faith gun control is a tough issue, so when you go about spouting that kind of nonsense there's just no chance at all.

I would say the Libs are at least being somewhat reasonable with gun control as they seem more concerned about the ridiculous gun violence in USA and are more open to changing gun rules to make for a (hopefully) safer nation than say the Cons.

I don't get why anyone would think any president (regardless if he's/she's republican, democrat or other) should automatically deserve respect as it's usually a very personal thing when it comes to who you respect in life, that being said I have quite a bit of respect for Obama as I think he's a

decent prez.

It was probably a good old fashioned "honor duel" gone wrong... the 2 boys arrested were trying to stab/slash each other, but instead hit many others.

Sorry, shouldnt make jokes like that, but the whole situation is just pretty fethed
