We know the 5 legions that were at Istvaan 3 had to remove loyalist but what about the others that turned? Surely there were some old guard that were still loyal?

In the WB novels they talk about inciting a second cleansing. So I would assume the first was getting rid of all those not loyal to Lorgar.

Ah, cause I am just listen to Know no Fear. Just wondered how their numbers finally stack (as well as other legions that may have had to "clean" up).

Thanks!

Night Lords were probably so crazy and filled with psychopaths that there was no purge necessary.

We know nothing about the Alpha Legion and probably never will so whatever for them.

As stated, Word Bearers already went through a purge off-camera.

Thousand Sons were a special case, of course. In their case, it was the Imperium that attacked them (from their point of view).

That really just leaves the Iron Warriors as unaccounted for or explained, I think. If they did do a purge, they obviously missed a few spots. I think Warsmith Dantioch was basically approached out of the blue with "Yo, we're marching on Terra and need your base as a supply point".

and after the Iron Warriors said meh, the traitors said "Yeah, Dorn and the Imperial Fists mentioned how the defenses they build on Terra are impregnable and you Iron Warriors wouldnt even attempt to breach them."

key point. The Night Lords dont worship chaos, and they were already on the out after massacring a planet. The cult legions are defined by worthiping a god, if you dont worship them then you are gonna get purged. The undivided legions, or those that do not worship chaos are more into the loyalty of the legion, and thus less purging would probably be necessary.

Yeah I thought that was the case. I have not finished No Know Far yet but i just cannot see how the UM could actually survive.

Without the traitors having a few more stumbles along the way it seems like everything is theirs to lose.

The IH, Sal, RG & UM have had a complete mauling at this point in the HH.
