I'm looking for advice really, since the Firewarrior box only comes with 10 helmeted heads I'm forced into painting Tau skin.

However my army is Urban themed and primarily grey so I think the blueish/greyish Tau skin might clash a bit, hence me opting for an alternative skin colour which is copied from the Naan in Babylon 5.

Has anyone seen any source material of this being done before? Also does anyone have suggestions on paints I should use to achieve this?

P.s I'm writing this on my phone at work and have no idea how to add a reference picture of a Naan

Cheers

I'd look into some blogs or google some dragon scales or lizardmen. They have all sorts of tips online on how to do the spotted effect. On a side note, I don't see how bluish/grey would clash with Grey http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/553556.page here's a link to a guy who did some urban tau and how his blue grey came out.

Narn actually wouldnt be that hard to do to the Tau since their heads are pretty much the same shape (except the facgina tau are sporting). Any reptilian paint tutorial would work, but me i would just base them in a light brown, hit them with some light red in spots, then some dark red for the bulk of their skull. It would take some time but since its so small you kinda cant do insane detail, plus it depends on what level of quality youre going for. Usually my heads arent given crazy layered paintjobs because its so tiny of a spot.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

The only issue I have is that Tau can't fight their way out of a paper bag...and Narn are pretty nasty in close combat, often choosing it over shooting when the opportunity presents.

But that's just a nitpick from a fan of the show; don't let me tell you what to do with your army...

On a side note, if you make a model that is Naan, that's more awesome than a whole army of Narn.
