Recently I have felt that template weapons could have a "fun" rule added to them. "When a model carrying a weapon described as using missiles or explosives is killed by a template weapon described as using "flames" or similar, roll a d6. On a 1 the ammunition of the killed model's gun explodes, dealing d6 strength 5 hits to the model's unit." Again I just thought this would be a fun rule to use in games with friends not something I would want added to the official game (flamers are enough of a problem right now).

You seem to be labouring under a misapprehension as to the definition of 'live ammunition'.

In short, why would it only set off missiles, when said missiles are often not even based on heat-detonatable technology?

Why would a fire set off an eldar plasma missile? Or a Grey Knight psi-shock rocket?

I didn't think of that. Guess I wasn't really thinking when I made this...

You could balance it out by having flamers blow up too. The fuel tank of a flamethrower getting hit and exploding is a classic cinematic trope.

Yeah it could actually work if that is the rule.
