How strict is the no-vehicle rule?
Marines need transports in one form or the other. A walking marine is a dead marine.

I'l willing to use dreadnoughts.
I don't want to buy vehicles because they're rediculously expensive and I am terribad at scratchbuilding.

You could check eBay for cheap prebuilt vehicles . Otherwise how do you feel about drop pods? Without something to get your marines from point A to point B a gun line army will tear you apart before you even get close :(.

Rhinos tend to go cheap on the e of bays.

You could go for Blood Angels to get jump pack assault marines as troops, and have no vehicles that way. --You could also go Sanguinary Guard troops with Dante. Additionally, we have a dreadnought that can take a psychic power to have jump pack movement, and has ironclad (13) front armor.

Could run Dark Angels Deathwing for Terminator troops and deepstrike in with a sizeable portion of them.

You could go for 205820458205825 infiltrating scouts as your troops. Perhaps with ccw+pistol for up-in-your-face early combat, and back them up with fast attack assault marines to deepstrike in while the enemy is swamped in combats, and join in with real hitting power. Marneus Calgar on the table would make this even more effective, for making the scouts have better-than-fearless morale.

Beyond those, I can't think of another method to be on the board as marines without any vehicles and not just get destroyed by long range enemies and objective VP's. At the very least, drop pods would be necessary. Unless you just got quite lucky and got "The Scouring" and all the good objectives fell on your side.

Ok I'l have a look for rhinos. Assault marines are cool, I might run my guys with BA codex, but isn't it ment to be useless in competitive play?

If you're talking top tier competitive, yeah you're pretty much a speed bump. Same thing if your chaos opponent takes 2-3 helldrakes.

Other than that though, don't underestimate the power of a giant mob of jump pack marines with a psychic bubble of 5+ cover, and several bubbles of FNP and furious charge.

I've had a Dante death star unit (Dante, 10 ASM, a priest and a libby) drop in on some orks, and with careful use of terrain and hit and run, the entire rest of my army was just trying to catch up to them. The unit slaughtered their way through about 1200 points of orks and lost 2 marines.
