I really want to change one of my Deathwing squads to have the TH/SS combo, but have no idea how to. Any ideas?

The pieces you're looking for can be found in the regular SM Assault Terminator box set (5 TH and 5 SS). You might also be able to find them in the Deathwing Command/Knights box. I just got one, haven't opened it yet but I'll take a look if no one else replies about its contents before I get home.

Alternatively, you can buy the pieces needed from reputable bitz sellers, or put a listing up in dakka's swap shop offering to buy the bitz you need.

Does that answer your question?

Buy this kit, Terminator Close Combat squad: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1060025

Or you could buy this kit, Deathwing Command Squad/Knights, and use the maces the knights carry as counts-as THs: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat860005a&prodId=prod1830078a&rootCatGameStyle=

The Deathwing command squad /knights box has five SS but only one thunder hammer. The shields are all unique and reek of DA iconography. That'd still leave you to the bitz sites to scrounge up four more THs.

If you use the maces they will appear for all intents to be Deathwing Knights.

Yeah, I wouldn't use the maces. If someone used them as a counts-as power maul on another model, I'd be cool with that but as a stand in for thunderhammer, considering it'd make them look just like an actual other unit in the Dark Angels codex, I suggest otherwise.

You can pick up 4 thunderhammers from bits stores for pretty cheap. The Vanguard Veteran box has 4 of them in it and there's quite a few of those floating around on the interwebs at the moment. Seems like most people getting the VV box are doing it for the helmets and legs rather than the crazy assortment of cool close combat weapons in it.

Thanks, but I'm getting the close combat squad, then swapping out the lightning claws for TH/SS sound good?

Use the mace handles just swap the mace head with a suitable hammerhead from warriors of chaos. Most of my power weapons are hacked together woc bits from my flgs quarter bit box.

use your clippings, plus the Halberd and knight master flail to make an awesome mace of redemption, the mace heads look extra grim dark hanging off the chains

Eww, no. Just get another set of guys if you want to run them the other way. Magnetization isn't worth it short of vehicles or creatures with large joints. Issue with trying to magnetize infantry or heavy infantry is their arms are so small, once you get the magnets in it won't rest in a solid position so their arms will splay everywhere.

I mean if you want to do it, power to you, but I personally dislike it on terminators. I've seen several people I know try it with their terminators and to a man, their arms don't stay on very well and fall off during moving the model, or it just rests in a silly position.

Besides, it's not really cost effective to do it for Terminators, either. Bits sellers, you can get 5 legs and 5 toros for about $20-30 bucks. Getting a package of 50 magnets (mind you, you'd be using 30 of them to magnetize just 5 terminators) runs you about $15 bucks. I guess I'd rather shell out a bit extra for more plastic parts and have 5 more guys I can run, than worry about options per guy.
