I don't plan on actually running this list as it would probably hit the £500 mark but was just curious to what could be done with the new codex. What do you guys think? Comments and criticism welcome.

Why the CCS out in the open? Or do they go in a Vendetta in which case why the autocannon rather than perhaps the 4 flamers of the platoon or better yet 4 plasmas. 4 twinlinked ignoring cover plasmaguns seems the only reason to take the CCS over the Tank Commander.

You've got quite mediocre firepower for 2k guard and not huge survivability. Sure 12 Tauroxes is alot and 15 vehicles is a decent number but I just think you'd be better of with Vets in this type of list with some Wyverns in Support and Command squads and/or Scions in the 'Dettas. You can still have 15+ vehicles but lots more killing power.

Something like this. Yes less Autocannons but far more AT and low Ap. Plus ludicrous amounts more AI:

I personally don't like the Taurox, so I don't really like the list.

Worst case scenario:

Just imagine this. Your opponent has a Riptide. Riptide gets buffed with markerlights and given tank hunter with a buffmander.

So this Riptide, again imagining the worst possible case scenario, is eyeing 3-4 Tauroxes that are bunched up on a flank, trying to get around a building or piece of terrain thats got an objective nearby. Said Riptide gets Str 9 AP2 Ion Accelerator pie plate right in the middle of this group of Tauroxes. Lets even say that it hit the front armor on all of these little guys (and they are easy to bunch up since they are so small). That thing is penning on 3's, rerolling due to TH, and rolling 2 dice taking the highest tanks thanks to Ordnance. Even on that front armor 11, thats potentially 2 or 3 dead vehicles, his riptide nearly made his points back including explosion casualties (which is made more likely due to ap2). That was in one single round of shooting. Thats a scary prospect IMO.

Again this is/was for fun, a probably absolutely worst case scenario. But something made likely if you really want to take mass Tauroxes. Manticores, Necron death rays, Wraithknights, etc could produce similar results.

3-4 Tauroxes under 1 template? If you allow that then you deserve what you get. But lets say you hit 3 you have 80 in 81 chance of penetrating if you've got off your Nova charge and Gets Hot! And then hit. 3 pens is not 3 kills it is 1 kill on average due to Ap2.

The Taurox is the best transport in the AM Codex. Yes it can die easily but it is cheap has decent firepower (for its points) and has 4 firepoints. You don't bunch up because you have no reason to. You don't need to go to Tau as you can out range them, let alone anyone else.

But his army would struggle to worry a Riptide certainly Triptide or any of the Deathstars. Basically he could do OK against Serpent Spam or light Mech Spam but doesn't have the damage output to worry other competitive builds.

I disagree that the Taurox is the best transport in the AM Codex. I feel like in the current meta of mass str 6 and 7 that AV12 makes a world of difference.

Where as actually the mass of S6 & S7 means that in game terms AV12 dies just as quickly as AV11 in most cases. The Taurox having the advantage of being able to take advantage of cover better (I know there's a lot of ignores cover but if he's wasting that firepower on humble Tauroxes all the better).
