What did you guys think? I just saw it.

Do not read this spoiler tag if you haven't seen the movie.
Spoiler:

Overall I quite liked it. Some scenes I thought portrayed Peter Parker and Spiderman pretty well. There were other things, and some tics of this actor or director, which I didn't like, but on the whole I did like the way the character was a played a lot more than the previous trilogy.

What I really respect though, is that they actually went and killed Gwen, something they copped out on in the first trilogy. I think the movie would have had a really memorable gut punch if it had ended with Peter at her grave, rather than the sadly tacked on and cheesy scene with Rhino at the end.

Did you stay to the end of the credits?

Apparently there's a X-Men teaser of sorts.

Second person I've asked that's missed it.

Sounds good, I may go and see it.

Strangely enough I love Spiderman but I couldn't get through the first film in this reboot. Just didn't draw me in. I was pretty put off by the Lizard being the bad guy to be honest. This film looks a lot more engaging.

The premise of these films is that Peters dad was some kind of scientist and that OsCorp is working on creating some kind of genetic super soldier or something I take it? I assume I'd be able to drop in to this film without seeing the first?

I think if you were able to watch it, you'd get a lot more out of this movie. They make a pretty big deal out of the stuff with Peter's Dad, and they also establish Oscorp as the Big Bad fairly well.

It's good, I liked it.

Not any worse than the 616 canon of his parents being CIA spies who were replaced after death by LMDs under orders by Osborn.

Or the Ultimate version of his dad being a biologist who created Venom and Carnage as a cancer cure or whatever.
