Now, from the name of this thread you know what it's all about, I'm in need of ideas for vostroyan rough riders. I already know about the simple conversion of the attilan rough riders, but I want more of an 18th century cavalry feel. I've looked at the perry miniatures stuff, and as lovely as it looks, it'll be out of scale with my vostroyans, so has anyone seen anything else I could use? I don't mind having to do minor work such as the hats, or limb re-positioning, I'm just having a hard time finding anything that isn't the converted attilans.

Have you looked through the Warhammer Fantasy models to see if anything strikes your fancy?

I have thought about using the outriders and attempting to sculpt the hats, but then I have the problem of the lances, and I don't want to buy two boxes of cavalry, just to get lances Automatically Appended Next Post: I can get sword and pistol arms from victoria miniatures, just need to find some lances to strap to the back of the riders...
This was much easier after you reminded me Empire had cavalry! Automatically Appended Next Post: http://store.warlordgames.com/collections/black-powder-armoury/products/80mm-metal-pikes-50
I can possibly use these as lances, just glue them to the backs of the riders, or would they be too thin and the points be too small?

They look about like thicker brass rod. I see no reason you couldn't use those. My question is how do you plan to model the explosive tip?

As someone that's purchased a ton of IG/ SM kits, there's plenty of loose grenades to chose from.
I was playing around with my first Scion kit the other day and their torsos might not be a bad choice to look into.
Almost "gawdy" trim on the armor would fit your theme, IMHO.

I already plan on using the sword and laspistol arms from victoria miniatures. I plan to cut the hands off, use the hands from the pistoliers, cut the laspistols apart and glue them together with the pistolier hands so I get that flintlock style the vostroyans are known for. I now just need to get all the parts together
