This fantasy scatter color was a real challenge. We wanted to create a black with a blue masstone. After all, most things we could think of as black in nature have blue highlights. Even Superman's hair has blue highlights.

This cool toned black really helps create deep shadow effects. It does a great job looking like oil-soaked ground. Because of its blue masstone, it blends well for distance effects.

Like all of our products, you can get Ivory Black at www.osbornwalker.com.

On moon miranda.

Do you happen to have any pictures of it? It sounds interesting but it'd be nice to see a picture or something.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

What exactly is this? Am I right in thinking it's black flock for bases? Any examples of it in use?

I think it's what you use to keep the cats from peeing on your slippers.

I'd still like to see an example of it used properly, mind.

Looking at their website, they also have bright red and turquoise flock, but no green or brown. So they are specializing in strangely colored flocks for alien planets? I guess? Black is a very odd choice, as an oil spill would be better done with inks on normal flock I'd imagine. Might be good for grime on an vehicle's undercairrage, and I know testor's makes a few bright colored and black flocks for model car carpets

Let me see if I can answer your questions.

Scatter can be used as flock on a base. It can also be used in larger terrain pieces.
It could also be used in set pieces like a diorama or tableau.

We realized that there is something missing from the traditional approach to color.
Traditionally, grass is 'green' and dirt is 'brown'. Besides the fact that dirt comes in
all kinds of colors, grass is really a mixture of colors. The builder is unable to capture
these colors using the traditional approach. We designed a modern palette to provide
builders with an artist's control over color.

Now builders can create fantasy or science fiction pieces where dirt and 'grass' do
not obey the color conventions of our planet.

On our planet we may wish to represent mold or moss on a wall. Simutec's scatter
can provide both texture and colors not easily available otherwise.

Just like an artist, builders can now use scatter to create mood through color. For
example, as day turns to night colors become less saturated (duller) and shift toward
blue. A modern palette helps the builder express this mood. A builder can combine
colors from the palette to achieve the vision he sees in his mind's eye.

Taken by itself, Ivory Black may seem like a strange color for scatter. When seen as
part of a larger modern palette, it becomes part of a larger family of colors. It has a
role to play on its own as well as in mixing colors.

We are working on additional colors for the available palette. This includes greens
and browns.

Some actual pictures of the product in action would probably do far more to sell it than just telling people what it is for.

Did a quick search and found a few other colors but no results on what this stuff looks like. We modelers are very visual oriented. It does sound interesting so please get us a few pictures of this stuff in action.

Thanks for the feedback. We have been so wrapped up in creating the palette we
skipped over explaining how to use it. Whoops!

If you have any thoughts about what you would like to see, please let us know. In
any case it will take us bit to put something together.
