So here's my initial impressions of the game based upon our own session playing the harmonize gates scenario. I also posted this over on the
KS comments section & on Boardgame Geek.
First off I'm certain we did a LOT wrong
lol. We used what was in the rules primer & also what I learned from the videos.
Second that scenario is pretty much impossible without all 4 players, much like the Mr. Stay Puft. Since it was just the 2 of us we each played a single buster & omitted the harmonize rule after awhile.
Gameplay is smooth & fast, it's extremely simple but it also gets really tense, especially when we were down to 1 ghost in the spirit world & 5 in purgatory.
Without the proper tiles we used a heroclix map & folded it down to 12x12 & just used the green terrain as
LoS blocking but passable & orange as impassable but non-blocking.
Balancing out keeping Ecto-1 out of danger but close enough to dump ghosts, budgeting actions for closing gates vs catching ghosts & depositing them requires genuine thought & strategizing each turn.
2 players should probably run 2 characters each.
This game is not as 2 dimensional as some are fearing.
Hopefully each scenario has a Win/Loss effect on the next rather than just replay till you win.
