There is not this idea.

So, my friend and I are going to do a little Kill Team campaign where it's a group of Kroot warriors fighting a band of human chaos cultists. I was trying to make up a bit of background for it, and I realized I don't have a very good impression of what the Kroot are actually like, as individuals. I mean, saying that they're savage warriors who eat the bodies of their enemies isn't actually saying all that much. How would they act as people? And how would they interact among themselves?

I'm not sure if this is something dealt with in the fluff or not, but I'm quite curious.

Only thing ive ever really read about them personality wise is that they are supposed to be very pragmatic.

Khorne cares not from whence the blood flows, only that it flows.

They take pleasure in making people uncomfortable.

I'd imagine that they're pragmatic while behaving similar to Predators in their ritualistic natures.

I always figured they were fairly simple, violent, but relatively honorable and in deference to the shapers.

I rather think of them like the Navi from Avatar. Only bird based instead of cat based.

In one of the cain novels there is a kroot who speaks english(despite having no lips to make O sounds)
He is the one who gets the Tau/IG to work together. He is also the one who breaks up the figh between humans ad other kroot.
They where actually the most diplomatic in the book.

The Internet- where men are men, women are men, and kids are undercover cops

Just base your Kroot off of the human team from Predator or the Colonial Marines from Aliens. Bonus points for painting the names on their bases.

Perhaps not technically a Marine Chapter anymore, but the Flame Falcons would be pretty creepy to fight.

"Right. Well, did you at least use the burnas?"

"We tried, but the gits was already on fire."

Much thanks.

I might try that. Except the Carl Weather's character will be the one from Arrested Development. Instead.

Ok, maybe not.

Otherwise, there doesn't seem to be much info out there, huh? Maybe if they do end up making a Kroot codex... Has anyone ever made a fan version?

That's exactly the sort of thing I was looking for! Nice.

I'm not sure how canon it is, but the section talking about kroot bands being like a family group based around the shaper is very helpful, storytelling wise.

The extended family group fluff is canon, the 3rd ed (ot maybe 4th) kroot mercs codex explained that each unit was a "kindred" led by a shaper who guided them along their evolutionary path, instructing them ob what to eat and helpijg them use the DNA they ingest, the band or tribe is then led by an eldar master shaper who is in charge of tge overall evolutiionary development and the direction the group takes with matters of war and such.

Kroot also have shamans who are low level psykers, they commuje with the spirits of the ancestors abd it seems overall that the kroot or very proud of ancestral heritage and such. Its also inplied that they deliberately forsake technology in their society rather than just being backward, for instance they have the capacity for space travel but choose to live in simple huts

In many ways i get a very red indian vibe from them, albeit with more violence. Red indians plus predator?
