Games Workshop, Privateer Press, Corvus Belli, Wyrd miniatures etc. Take note - THIS is how you make a video of miniatures.

So good I had to share, and deserving of its own thread!

Really digging the 80s vibe going on in the video.

That game looks like it'll be awesome.

I am not enthralled by the look of the minis. But damn that company has attitude.

If this is succesful on kickstarter, I guarantee you it will take at least one of the tabletop wargaming companys out of businesses. I'm going to get some myself, depends on the prices. I would also usually hate 80s style models, but these are one of the few exceptions

I got excited about it until I saw the price.

24 Figures and the rules shipped for almost $200US

It looks pretty cool, and I would dig painting up those models. Not sure I want to drop at a minimum $90 for a two player starter pack though.... We shall see if the wife lets me.

£55 down here for the two player starter pack. I think that's a decent amount, considering all the models are metal and its just a fiver more than the 40k rulebook. Militia and lunar coalition right here!

I'm a huge fan of not comparing kickstarter pricing to GW pricing. I look at stuff like Wyrd or PP. The two player box for PP is $90 if you buy it full retail and about $65 online. It comes with two armies at about 25pts and the rules book.

I think that this one would have been better served having the 2 player kit in at around $60 and have the rules as a PDF download with optional full color book as an add on.

No doubt it'll be enough to get people to buy their questionable minis and the rulebook full of big full-colour pics of their questionable minis.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

The song from the video is part of a soundtrack that will be available for free download to all backers, its got a really cool German-industrial/electronica vibe to it

Faux-80's is a thing.

Google:

Kung-Fury

If you wish to see more 80's bad-assedness.

From someone who was younger (20's) in the 1980's, I was inundated by this sort of thing constantly.

Although I existed in a world that was pretty fringe, the mainstream was still hard to avoid.

Apparently, the verdict is in: I just hate all wargaming videos. Period.

Huh. I learned something today.

I am kinda there with you on that one.

I used to work in the music business in London and LA, and have made actual music videos for Goth, Punk, Ska, and Deathrock (which is NOT Death-Metal... Different thing entirely) bands.

And the videos for miniatures seem to lack that Je ne said quoi that one finds in actual musical acts.

But I do appreciate the retro quality of this video, even if I do not actually like the aesthetics of the video or miniatures. It reminds me of being young, and dissatisfied with the selection of miniatures available in the 1980's, and not yet having the tools to do anything about it myself.

I agree. Buy in is kind of high, and I like the vibe and look. Anyone know if these guys have a reputation, good or bad?
