Obviously I have a copy of the latest Beta lists, and I've been buying some dwarves this week, to go with the stuff I've already got in hand.

I'm wondering how people have found Ironwatch Rifles in practice? I've picked up at least one small unit worth of them, but I've got the opportunity to get a few more models at a decent price, but don't want to pull the trigger unless they're worthwhile. I'm not WAAC by any means, but by the same token I don't want to collect too many of the less useful units, either. I have the same question about Sharpshooters as well.

And I'm also wondering what people tend to proxy their GW Dwarf Miners as in KoW? They have lighter armour and 2-handed weapons. Shieldbreakers seem to be the closest-looking thing, though they would also seem to be the equivalent of Hammerers?

I don't know about the rules, but They can double as forefather grunts for warpath, right? They could be a PDFS squad, or conscripts, and the minis are much cheaper than basic forefathers, at least locally.

I'm actually looking at metal OOP GW figures, so they're a decent price for those.

Miners have two-handed picks, yeah? Sounds like they'd fit perfectly into a Shieldbreakers unit.

The galaxy is littered with the single-planet graveyards of civilisations which made the economically sensible decision not to explore space.

Hm.. Looking at the lists again (particularly the bits that get hidden in the Excel file) and Hammerers would seem to be more like Ironguard with 2-h weapons - so I think you're right. Shieldbreakers it is, then!
