Hello my fellow wargamers,
I recently purchased the Dark Vengeance starter kit, and loved it. I want to expand my collection with both the expansions and I want to know the EXACT contents of each expansion set before I buy it, and if I will need to buy codices for DA and CSM to go along with it. If anybody could tell me, that would be great.
Peace out,
Clovie.

May you roll many sixes.

You can either look at the pictures or read the descriptions. They're not showing models you aren't getting.

The Dark Angel models can be built in a couple of ways. Ravenwing Knights or Command Squad and Deathwing Command Squad, Deathwing Knights, Deathwing Terminators.

I know, but what I'm most concerned about are the rules, and if I will have to add two $90 AUD (20 days worth of pay from my casual job extra) codices as well. Are there rules for all the individual weapons options? In retrospect, this is what I should have asked instead. Ah well, what's done is done.

May you roll many sixes.

you need the army books to use either expansion, however you can also buy the formations on black library: the slaughtcult, and the relentless hunters i believe? which make them a little more unique.

the expansions contain:

chaos:
1 chaos land raider
1 squad chaos terminators
1 more squad of cultists (10?)

the dark angels get:
1 dark talon bomber
1 squad of ravenwing black knights (with parts for the command squad instead but then you cant use the relentless hunters as noted above)
1 squad of deathwing knights (with the parts for a dw command squad, or a dw terminators unit instead but ...see ravenwing black knights)

DA army: 3500pts,

OK, great. *sarcasm* Guess I've got a helluva lot of saving to do. That's 62 days of work at my casual job, not including paint or glue. GW, y you so expensive!?!

Those sets are actually a pretty good deal, at least for GW. Not too terrible when combined with the DV set, though you would need another Troops choice if you go CAD.

You will almost certainly find it is cheaper to purchase from someone other than GW... especially if you are in AUS/NZ.

Unless you get sneaky and give one of the Bolter Tacs a different-colored helmet to use him as the Sergeant of a second 5-man squad.

Don't believe me? It's all in the numbers.

Number 2: That's terror.

I was going to recommend that too. Heck, paint his knee guard red unlike all the others. Just remember to put the Plasmagun and Plasma Cannon in different squads and you are set.

Indeed. That's a solid choice too, makes him distinct enough to be the Sarge when they're split, but not stick out too much when they're combined.

Also I'd personally recommend pairing Plasma Gun dude and Plasma Pistol Sergeant. It'll be the more mobile squad, much better place for a Pistol to be.

I was going to combat squad the Tacs anywho and put the one with the VS, the PG and 3 bolter dudes in a Razorback w/TLHB and leave the PC as long range support with the rest of the bolter guys.

May you roll many sixes.

I also love my DV kit I picked up a land raider some bikes and a ven dread all 2nd hand unpainted unassembled and saved myself at least 50%. look on your local warhammer forum for guys selling 2nd hand stuff. works a treat for me

Facts are chains that bind perception and fetter truth. For a man can remake the world if he has a dream and no facts to cloud his mind.
