I love the Callidus and the fluff and tactics but in my opinion I don't think the new Callidus model shows off her defining traits (disguise) very well so i was thinking about converting my own and I'm here looking for advise and tips fluff, crafting and inspiration wise.

So far the only idea I've got is to get the new model and stick the arms and head on something like a cultist or commissar body to make her look a little more in disguise but i'm not sure that if i did this she would have much presence on the table and although she's stealthy i want her to still be impressive.

So a few questions for more knowledgeable people than myself.

What do you think is a good, common disguise for a callidus?

How could i represent her disguise skills on a model?

How could she be disguised/disguising/revealing but still have presence on the table?

I've searched the internet but cant find any pictures other than the classic latex wearing acrobatic callidus and none of her blending in or disguising.

So thoughts and ideas would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, with a Callidus there really is no 'common' disguise, polymorphine can mean that she is literally anything short of a Carnifex.

What I would do is take a model you fight regularly in your meta and convert from there. It would not be an easy conversion, but you might convert it so that one half of the model (splitting it vertically, that is gonna be the hard part) is the assassin, and the other half is the 'target' and paint it to show it blending from the target to the assassin.

One thing you could try is to use the classic spandex model, but change how you base her. Who are your more common opponents? You could take the armor/helmet of a Eldar guardian, IG trooper, tau firewarrior, or even an ork, and place it at her feet. Like she’s just shucked the cumbersome disguise and gone into kill mode.

how does polymorphine work? Does it morph clothes as well?

I considered you're suggestion but the main problem would be the callidus being so much skinnier than most other things that the parts wouldn't line up.

I was thinking a cultist may be easy but what would a callidus get from disguising as one of them? then i considered a marine but she'd have to find power armour and the proportions with the original model might still be off.

Hmmmm....

Also i'm fortunate enough to have a large variety of opponents to face. i'm more concerned with simply having a good looking fluffy model

Polymorphine can basically change the Assassin's shape and physiology to fit that of their will. A Callidus can become, bigger, bulkier and anything she needs to be. Obviously, they would still need to get their hands on armor, but that is why they are master assassins. Callidus thrive on replacing a victim, so they would off a Cultist or a Chosen and replace them in order to get closer to the Chaos Lord or Sorcerer in charge of the whole show.

You could always go for comedy value and split models at the waist. Have a terminator armoured torso/arms/head running around on a skinny pair of latex clad legs. Should be relatively easy and you could even magnetise the waist joint to allow swapping of 'disguises'.

Thinking i might go with the commissar cultist from dark vengeance and give him the boobs, the weapons, at least one of the arms and the head from the new callidus kits. I think that would look pretty sweet. paint the head and an arm black paint, the other arm flesh and have the torso transitioning.

Don't think it should be too hard to do either.

Do you think it would give the right effect? Any suggestions regarding that plan?

I use a Necromunda Spyer Jakara model as my Callidas, as she has the same pose and weapons, onky with a face and frizzy hair.

I'd get a troop model your opponent/s have and paint it in their scheme but with your own style and try and mimic her weapons and deploy that as your calidus. You can then switch back to the original calidus model next turn if by some miracle she's still alive.
