Not sure if anyone has thought about this yet but why are there no females, there has to be at least one or two fiery ones who would have stood up to chaos and be rewarded by sigmar for it. I always thought he would be an equal opportunities employer.....

Apparently Josh Reynolds asked the question (according to his blog) and they didn't say no there are not any .........................

To be chosen by the Man-God Sigmar for the honour of reforging into a Stormcast Eternal one must have been strong in their mortal life and call out to Sigmar for help. Apparently no strong woman have been able to do the latter

I think it's a bit of a pointless subject but weren't the Stormcast forged in Sigmar's likeness, so they all look somewhat like him?

I'm interested in the Fyreslayers being a patriarchal society, and it kind of makes me hope to see a new faction at some point of a matriarchy.

I thought that in the fluff all races and sexes could be (and are) Stormcast, they just all get re-made into a uniform shape when they are "forged."

I do agree that having some variation in the Stormcast models would kick serious ass, I'd love to see Gobbos, Halflings, Elf, and Dwarf Stormcast models. (with male and female variants.)

Because they are iron robots and what soul on the inside doesnt matter. So they are all women but you can put a iron nipple and boob if you need that to be a woman.

This. They mentioned men, women, elves, dwarfs, and orcs all being selected as Stormcast...and then for whatever reason they all get reforged into wannabe Space Marines. Huge missed opportunity, both from a modeling perspective and an in-universe perspective. Imagine what would happen if a Sigmarine showed up to an orc tribe - a valuable asset in battling Chaos - and requested their help.

Now imagine what would happen if an orc in dead 'ard armor (okay, maybe it's gold, but it's got proppa dents and glyphs on it so you know it's orcy) turned up, kicked the local warboss' head in, and ordered the others to go show the spiky git in the castle next door what happens when he thinks he can lord it over da boyz.

Pretty sure there were no Sigmarines in the "Medieval Ages". So I don't really know what you are talking about. Warhammer Ageo of Sigmar has never been a historical wargame at all. The old world was fantasy, and this is completely different and soooo far away from the Medieval Times (whatever that means). The old world had female characters and it does seem a valid criticism that the sigmarines are all the same, whether that be gender or race. Or we could listen to you are you are clearly an Age of SIgmar guru who knows alot about where women should be present.

It's not PC to question why there is not representation of the female gender in a high fantasy tabletop wargame.

High fantasy settings have had many kickass women in them, for many years, probably even from their very beginnings. They even appeared in GW fiction (Lhunara in the Malus Darkblade novels, for example). That GW appear to have forgotten that when it came time to design their new faction, which then ended up being a pretty lazy insert of their other main "hero" faction, is a bit infuriating.

Is... is there even anything in AoS that resembles medieval times? AoS is far more a mythological setting. Plenty of room for warrior women there.

And y'know, the 'whiny' tumblrs I know would possibly be fine with that. If any conversion's needed, it might just be a bit of gap-filling between those big golden He-Man pecs.

Ok so here is a question for the crowd. How do you know that the stormcast eternals are male or female by their armor? I mean, there is a ghost inside the armor (kind of). Do you really want boob armor? If this is about being PC, then boob armor is kinda the opposite to what we want to see right? An armor that is worse than the male equivalent just to show feminine physique = No thank you. If this is not a PC question, but rather a question to call out the creators on their lack of female characters, I think the Stormcast is the worst possible example you could ever think of. The model represents equality beyond race and sex. It might actually be the most PC model ever (Next to genderless ghosts and the like). Damn guys, you could have named empire which would have been a MUCH better example... Come on. There could be alot of innocent explanation for the lack of women soldiers in the empire, like wanting to mirror our own history in a fantastical setting, but still.

Oh and another little fun fact about warhammer. Alot of the 'not including women' in warhammer stems from the difficulty one encounters when sculpting feminine physique without making pin up dolls. It is a hassle to do which is why they only really did so on elf troops where the faces look similar enough that you can just switch out the chest piece of the model.

I think you are mistaking unwillingness to sculpt for difficulty in doing so.

As to the rest of your post, I don't think the OP wants pin up dolls, and this is a background question primarily, as in "Why haven't we heard about female stormcast yet?" where another person gave the separate but related wish of having an orc-style stormcast. The majority don't want boob-plated stormcast as that would be silly. An acknowledgement of their existence however would be quite cool. It would help to educate juvenile minds that you don't need to add watermelon scale breasts to a miniature to make it female. Education of the wargaming community in this could be quite beneficial, and the inclusion of such troops would increase the popularity of the game. I don't understand why GW didn't take the opportunity here.

The problem stems from the fact that there is also no reason for the models to have been sculpted as outwardly male either. You can have cool looking warriors representing a god without having to sculpt male pecs and abs into their armour. There is zero reason to have those muscles sculpted on.

Also, woman in plate mail =/= boob armour. That kind of thinking makes Brienne of Tarth angry.

Old miniature magazines with sculpting articles (You can most likely find a ton at the local library). This is/was a quite wellknown problem before computer sculpting.

I don't understand the rest of what you are saying? Missed oppertunity for what? Female stormcast are acknowledged. Sigmar uses souls to make his soldiers. He doesn't care about their gender and whether their look represents their former selves. Why is that a problem? There are so many other places you could criticize GW for slacking, and in future releases it would be a pleasure to see more female models. But here, seriously?

And on the political subject about educating the youth - Do you honestly expect a corporation to give a damn about anything, if it is not a monetary interest? I mean, making female models may help sell to women, which could be a brilliant idea, but educating young boys is not something a company like GW would normally think about since they have a responsibility to their investors above all else. Not unless there is some evidence to suggest a growth in sales at least. Contrary to popular belief, a forum with opinions on the subject is not evidence enough.

So while most would think that female models could very possibly be an asset to GW, this might not be the right time to introduce the idea. We just got a rather negative half-year report from GW, and spending a lot of time on something this uncertain, could be considered irresponsible.

Or, you know, they've mentioned in the background that women can become Stormcast, and it seems odd that everyone who becomes a Stormcast is turned into a Sigmarine regardless of race or gender. Almost as if they wanted to make the job as easy on the sculptors as possible, regardless of how boring the finished army would look...

Which looks like Sigmar (who..looks like a dude, are you sure they're genderless?), funnily enough. More fuel for the 'AoS Sigmar is a self-centered narcissistic jerk' fire Chaos overrunning everything because I got too busy throwing a tantrum at Nagash to help? Fine, I'll take my toys and go to Azyrheim and make everyone awesome look like me!

On a related note, I'd like to point out that the Old World had the Sisters of Sigmar, and I'm fairly certain branches of the Cult of Myrmidia had quite a few female warriors.
