I have a rather large DA army that I have put aside for a long time now since other 40K (Tyranids, Tau) and AoS (Stormcast Eternals) armies have caught my attention. But, I'm considering putting together a Lion's Blade Detachment. The only thing I'm missing from a Lion's Blade Detachment that's required is an Assault Squad and a Devastator Squad. What would be the best way, in your opinion, using what comes in the box (don't want to have to track down and buy bits) to kit out these squads?

Thanks in advance

I like a 5 man assault squad, 2 flamers, power weapon on the veteran sarge. What weapon varies. If I know there is going to be character attached, I might go for the axe so the squad has some AP2. Otherwise a sword or maul. Melta bomb if I have 5 points left after list building.

Edit: Forgot to mention deployment options. I’ve run them both in a pod or with jump packs. I’d avoid rhino hulls unless you are going razorspam.

IMHO Devs should be used for AV roles. I’d like to see 4xLC, but you said out of the box. So 2xLC, 2xML is not bad compromise. Nothing relevant on the sarge; he’s going to forgo shooting to give someone BS5 anyway. Bolter or BP/CCW depending on what you think looks better.

I like my ASM filled out at 10 dudes, a pair of flamers, jump packs, a pair of evicerators and melta bombs on the sarge if I want them to achieve something or as cheap as possible with 5 chumps with 2 flamers in a drop pod. For a lions blade, they're nothing but a tax, so 5 guys with a pair of flamers in a free ObSec pod are the way to go IMHO.

Jump packs, 2 flamers and melta bombs is exactly 100 points and is what I'd go for. They can roast some squishies when they deep strike and if they survive they can go after tanks. Edit: of course if you have the points and the models, take a drop pod.

I don't run devastators (or assault marines for that matter) outside of Skyhammer so I don't really know what would be the most efficient way to gear them here. Lascannons are a pretty safe option though.

I use 2 x lc and 2x ml for my Dev squad, my serg just has a bolt gun and as said above just use his signum (most of the time I call the signum then roll a 5 then no signum and roll a 2 :s)

You can always take flak missiles with the launchers if ever needed as well

Flak missiles are way over costed. Paying 25 points per weapon is to much particularly when marines have much better options to get in anti air if they want

Looks like I go a bit different with my ASM. I go 2 plasma pistols + 1 plasma pistol on the sarge. In a Demi company I give the chaplain a plasma pistol and a jump pack and let them go hunting.
