I started a poll on /tg/, and after garnering quite a bit of interest I feel like I might try to expand it to as many 40k boards as possible to see, with as much data possible, what in the community's opinion is the best looking mark of power armor designed by GW/FW. As a note, I did not include MK I "Thunder Armor" as it is only available from one incredibly old set from GW, and is not in any large production by either GW or FW product lines. Even Errant Armor can be roughly assembled to some degree from the Tactical and Sternguard Kits.

MK III is my favorite as well, with MK IV following behind (I do love beakie helmets, but not the rest of the armor). It looks vastly superior to the "nah we're definitely not aping darth vader" MK VII/I armor.

Mk7 Aquila armor. I can't really put my finger on why I like it the most. Mk. II is a close second for the whole "Space Knight" look.

Fan of the MK III helm - not the rest of the armour so much. The assault variant of MK IV is probably my favourite (The one without the cables on the torso), but I'll break from the rest of the thread in saying I am fond of the MK V armour - purely because the helmets look epic

It was good enough for RTB01, it’s good enough for today.

Classics, don’t mess with them.

Mk II for me. It looks ancient enough that it separates itself from the modern power armor marines.

Mk III.

FW does some variations on the helmets for individual legions, but they don't really match the mark they are supposed to belong to:

Dark Angels
Spoiler:

Ultramarines
Spoiler:

Alpha Legion
Spoiler:

Night Lords
Spoiler:
etc

The helmets also vary on many of the HH covers and in the FW books themselves. They often look much better than the default helmets!

And the Angels of Darkness descended on pinions of fire and light... the great and terrible dark angels.
He was not the golden lord. The Emperor will carry us to the stars, but never beyond them. My dreams will be lies, if a golden lord does not rise.

I look to the stars now, with the old scrolls burning runes across my memory. And I see my own hands as I write these words. Erebus and Kor Phaeron speak the truth.

My hands. They, too, are golden.

Mk S is much better looking than any of those, Wy.

I'm partial to mkviii and mkiv.

I would probably like Mark three more if I didn't have to highlight all of those ridges on the greaves.

Mk VIII and Mk V

I'm not a fan of the Mk IV helmet even tough it has become way better over the years and I still prefer a proper GK/BT/DA helmet over Mk III. Mk VII is just way too boring and Mk VI is only suitable for Assault Marines

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

Casting my vote for Mk.VI. I'm not crazy about the armour itself but the helmet is dead sexy.

Depends on the Legion, but IV-VI for me. I love MKIII on IWs and maybe DAs though, but generally prefer the MKV, so I'm in the minority.

The Mk. VI "Corvus" armor is my personal favorite. There is no school like old school. Since it dates back to the time of 80's and Awesome (Rogue Trader), the "Beakie" will always hold a special place in my heart.

I think there's something to be said for all the armours ,other than Mk7 of course, but the one I like the most is Mk6. Interesting that so few people like Heresy armour, though.

MKIII looks like really good armour that would protect you.

MVI holds a special place in my heart (We have a house rule that if a beanie charges into combat, they can make an AP 2 Str User attack but they take a S5 hit if they miss.) because I knew about 40k for the longest time but never had the funds.

Mkv for me too, very brutal looking, also great for converting, I threw loads of parts from mk ii through v into a pile and just started building marines from whatever parts I wanted, true mkv
