Hey guys! I'm a relatively new player tinkering around with a SoB army list. I'm aware they're a tough faction to play right, so it'd be great to have some feedback before I take it into play and get slaughtered! Please be as brutal as you like, all suggestions are useful.

The general idea is to have a lot of anti-infantry from the Command Squad, Battle Sister Flamer Squad and Avenger Strike Fighter. Seraphim distract and harass the enemy and provide additional anti-infantry. Exorcists pound away at the enemy armour along with the Battle Sister Melta Squad. Probably a better HQ choice than the Canoness but I didn't want the close-combat priest options nor did I want to have to look at a big flying angel in the middle of my gritty sci-fi battle!

[P.S. I play virtually using Tabletop Simulator, so money / model rarity is no issue when making suggestions.]

HQ - 220 Pts

Canoness
- [Transported in Sorotias Rhino with the Command Squad]

Sororitas Command Squad
- Celestian with Heavy Bolter x5
- Sororitas Rhino

Troops - 288 Pts

Battle Sister Squad
- Battle Sister x6
- Battle Sister with Flamer
- Battle Sister with Heavy Flamer
- Sister Superior
- Sororitas Rhino

Battle Sister Squad
- Battle Sister x2
- Battle Sister with Meltagun x2
- Sister Superior with Melta Bombs
- Sororitas Rhino

Fast Attack - 95 Pts

Seraphim Squad
- Seraphim x3
- Seraphim with Two Hand Flamers x2

Heavy Support - 400 Pts

Avenger Strike Fighter

Exorcist

Exorcist

Total: 1003 Pts

I know this is off topic, but SoB haven't been updated in years. What do you mean by tabletop simulator? I googled it and it looks like a game.

A few years, yeah. Could be worse given GW's past track record! Tabletop Simulator is what it says on the tin; it's a really handy software for playing tabletop games on, from chess to D&D to strategy games like 40k. It creates a tabletop and you can add all your own models and textures to it. There's a sizeable 40k community for it that imports a lot of models from various games (mostly Dawn of War and friends) for use.

The only reason to take Seraphim is as a bodyguard for Celestine.

Flamer/heavy flamer can have issues because you need to resolve one and then the other, limiting the number of hits, but many have success with it.

There's no reason to ever take more than 5 sisters in a squad unless you're going foot blob since they already get their 2 specials at 5 and they can't combat squad.

Command squads used to be passable back when double CAD wasn't a thing, now you're much better off with other stuff.

You don't have any of the best unit in the entire codex, 4 melta dominions and the bullet catcher superior with a combi melta in a multi melta immolator.

A flyer in 1000 points probably isn't a wise investment since they're generally not super killy and devoting such a large portion of your army to something that has no re-rolls or modifiers to reserves can be suicide.

100 - Jacobus
110 - 5x Sisters, 2x Flamer, Rhino
110 - 5x Sisters, 2x Flamer, Rhino
165 - 5x Dominions, 4x Melta, Immolator
165 - 5x Dominions, 4x Melta, Immolator
125 - Exorcist
125 - Exorcist
100 - 5x Retributors, 4x Heavy Bolters

Jacobus goes with the Rets to hand out rending twice a game, Doms scout to pop tanks, sister drive-by in rhinos to clean up, exos on anti tank / anti MC duty

that depends on house rules of weather you resolve one and then the other as per the shooting sequence (BRB p30) or if special rules for template weapons(BRB p173) supersede that and you determine the number of hits for both templates before then going on to resolve those "hit pools" individually per their differing weapon profiles. with any luck this will be officially settled in their facebook faq questions request.

@OP

It looks like your on the right track with your proposed list. sisters favor MSU mech based lists. if you taking the ASF because you're afraid of air, don't be. typically if you can force a flyer to jink then it's completely useless and exorcists/heavy bolters are typically good at that so you could free up a few points by dropping the ASF to a squad of heavy bolter rets or another exorcist and drop the command squad for something else (more obsec?).

i think i know why you want the seraphim, a DSR unit can be really handy to grab back field objectives but they typically die quick and don't usually get to see a second turn on the table.

the last 1000pt list was for a 2v2 game (1000pts per player)

canoness, rosarius, matle of ophilia, (warlord)
celestine

BSS
5 girls, flamer, heavy flamer
immo, TL-MM

BSS
5 girls, flamer, heavy flamer
Immo, TL-MM

exorcist

exorcist

penitent engine squad
3x peni

but i've been thinking about this 1000pts list for an up coming 2v2 tournament at my local group but currently waiting on odds and ends that are on order to come in before i can run it in a practice game.

canoness, rosarius, book of st lucius(5 extra points for a 12" fearless bubble) (warlord)

4x BSS
5 girls, flamer, heavy flamer,
Immo, TL-MM

3x exorcist

Thanks for the feedback guys, solid lists and some good pointers. Yeah, the fighter was probably a waste of points, I was just sucked in by that S6 AP3 Heavy 7. I'll throw in a lot more melta.

Not 100% sure whether to go with Jacobus, or go with a cheaper HQ in order to afford another Immolator to replace a Rhino.

Anyway, I'm gonna incorporate your ideas and give it a run. I'll let you know how the army I run with goes.

Can't fire your guns out of an immolator and being outside of a transport within 12" of anything worth shooting is a death sentence for T3 infantry.

Please do let us know how you go.
