I've recently set up a new blog with one of my friends, and we would like to have a logo. As we are both completely gak at art, I wanted to ask if anybody would be willing to do a cartoon logo that represents in some way our blog name - Always Strikes Last.
We would of course have your name at the bottom of our blog with the credit going to you. If anyone was willing to do this for us that would be great, the url for the blog is aslwargaming.blogspot.co.uk, if you wanna check it out, there's currently very little on there but I might do a bit of a welcome post later
Thanks in advance!

You'd probably have more luck finding someone on deviant art to throw something together for you than here on Dakka.

As Curran suggests though, the kind of stuff people might give you just to be nice won't be as nice as the kind of stuff even $10 might net you.

It isn't a matter of being nice, if you want a good logo, you should be willing to respect an artist or designer's time and skill with compensation.

"Your name appears here" doesn't exactly pay a bill, ya know.

It's worth a go, if you don't ask you don't get.
Any artist looking to build a portfolio might well go for it.
Any artist with a business brain and a bit of spare time would approach the client a few months later with a bunch of extra designs, variations borders and a price list.

Any artist with a business brain doesn't work for free. Period. Exposure doesn't pay bills, or feed kids. You just get more folks expecting you to work for free. You can lowball the initial estimate expecting to milk it later for more, but more often than not you just screwed yourself out of good money chasing bad.

Far too many jingles, comics, and posters about artists not working for free, but I like this one quite a bit.

Same here.....though Always Strike Last" is not a artillery saying....nor a good military slogan

This looks good, really gets to the heart of the idea of exposure as payment.

Exposure as payment is one of those things that just makes any designer, artist etc groan....

Do you relise how much the software alone costs for business use, or the fact that a free lance designer working on a project can be high as 20 pounds a hour.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I can think of no better exposure for an artist than a blog on free web hosting using the default template that currently has no content whatsoever.
