Alright so I have a fluffy fun list but recently I have been tabled a few times by tournament opponent lists like flyrant/harpie spam and ork boy spam formations so I started thinking competitive for the future while I build an apocalypse army. Here's my list opinions and advice wanted.

HQ: squadron : pask punisher heavy bolters all around with 2 vanquishers with meltas/Las cannons everything gets camo nets

3x priest bare bones
2x primirus psykers naked aswell

Company command: vox, flag 2 plasma guns 1 plasma pistol TRANSPORT chimera, twin linked bolters, hull bolter storm bolter camo nets

TROOPS: 2 demo vets squads Both get vox one gets 3x plasma, the other 3x melta both get TRANSPORT chimera twin linked bolter hull bolter storm bolter and camo nets

platoon: command squad vox 3 flamers
Combined squad 2 Las cannons
50x conscripts

FAST:
Rough riders 2x meltas


And that's it, I'm suprised too about the rough riders but they actually fit perfect. The idea is wrap warlord tank squad in the platoon of 50 conscripts/ double las cannon blob mixed with priests while pask uses split fire every turn, vanquishers deal with any av 14 or MC while punisher pask deals with anything that Flys or hords. Plasma demo vets hang with company command in thier chimeras hunting heavy infantry while melta vet chimera deals with armor eventually linking up with the out flanking melta rough riders.

OK so what am I not prepared for? Where should I put each priest or psyker? How should I play it? but what is this army not ready to deal with? I'm a noob I'll admit but I'm tired of loosing to competitive lists, time to build one for those guys.

You will have problems with an ork trukk rush, necrons in general, tzeentch demons in general, thunder wolves in general, eldar in general, tau in general and with some SM lists.

I play AM myself and I tried a lot of things and it is sad but AM cannot compete with the above named codices.

To the List:
Pask is BS4, that’s ok but the additional vanquishers are only BS3 which means every second shot is a miss, at best.

psykers: ok, but they won’t win battles for you.

ccs: get rid of the flag, the vox and the pistol. Take 2 additional plasma guns.

vets: no vox, add inquisitors (you may give them special weapons, malleus with S6 AP4 incinerator is nice) much better than vox L10 and stubborn

platoon: I think the las cannons are wasted points ... with BS3 only every second shot will be a hit. Ordinary guardsmen need more dakka ...

rough riders: I think they will die very fast ...

I should edit that the chimeras dont get twinlinked, battlescribe listed them as free but its apparent they are not. That heing said,

I appreciate the response. Why do you think that though? 100 re rolling s3 shots along with 40 re rolling s3 (priests+rapid fire) I feel like can't go too wrong, add pask hitting 60% of 29 more s5. Vanquishers missing is why there are 2 that's 2 s8 armour bane plus 2 s9 cannons and 4 s8 meltas, good chance at popping whatever. Truth is I don't want anyone running and orders are a must so I need the flag and the voxs.

So what units T and armour values are you thinking this won't stand too?

20 rerolls at BS3 hit 10
this makes 30 potential hits

S3 wounds a T3 model (another guardsman) at 4+, this makes 15 wounds
S3 wounds a T4 model (a spess mereen) at 5+, this makes 10 wounds
S3 wounds a T5&T6 model (a spess mereen bike) at 6+, this makes 5 wounds

if we hit the guardsman he has a 5+ armour save or maybe a 4+ cover save, this makes 7 to 10 wounds after the save
if we hit the spess mereen has a 3+ armour save, this makes 5 wounds after the save
if we hit the biker has a 3+ armour save too, this makes 2 wounds after the save


now the same game with the conscripts

100 shots at BS2 hit 33
67 rerolls at BS3 hit 22
this makes 55 potential hits

S3 wounds a T3 model (another guardsman) at 4+, this makes 27 wounds
S3 wounds a T4 model (a spess mereen) at 5+, this makes 18 wounds
S3 wounds a T5&T6 model (a spess mereen bike) at 6+, this makes 9 wounds

if we hit the guardsman he has a 5+ armour save or maybe a 4+ cover save, this makes 13 to 18 wounds after the save
if we hit the spess mereen has a 3+ armour save, this makes 9 wounds after the save
if we hit the biker has a 3+ armour save too, this makes 4 wounds after the save

and all this wounds only if you are able to manifest the divination powers.

this is very sad …

you could skip pask and the vanquisher and take the ordinary tank commander and a LRBT and kurovs aquila. The ccs takes a las cannon (BS4). Hide your ccs between your tanks and the bubble wrap conscripts and every unit within 6” around the warlord gets preferred enemy (tank commander too!!). In addition to that you have enough points to take a second ccs.
