For a start: I'm not trying to troll here and I have no problem whatsoever with people using whatever ruleset they find enjoyable. That said ...

I've spent the last year playing Warmachine and I really like the clean rules of that game. Easy to get into, an internal 'logic', reasonably well balanced and largely unambiguous. (They also have a tactical depth that goes well beyond accumulating massive amounts of dice and fielding gun lines ...). Are there any alternative 40k rule sets that are written in a similar manner? I find the current 40k rules difficult to overview and too often they lead to dice roll offs to decide on rulings.

Any ideas? I'm sort of stuck between a rock (great fluff + models but messy rules) and a hard place (great rules, a fluff I don't care about + partly horrible models).

(Edited for clarifications.)

There are Things like the ITC or the ETC rules... also in germany there are the T3 Rules and a new one Tabletopmasters

All of them are Housrules and Fan-FAQs but written to be used by larger Tournaments and 40k leages.

beside this... there are lots of rules n such writtn by clubs n such. but they are not used by a large common game group

There aren't really any alternatives. There are various FAQs and tournament errata attempts, but those just make superficial changes to things like point costs, not major updates to simplify and improve the core mechanics. Some people have tried to make new and better games with the 40k IP, but none of them have gained any significant popularity or received the kind of large-scale playtesting required for good tournament balance.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
