Why is it that Forgeworld has a habit of forgetting the first legion when releasing transfer sheets, GW has a nasty habit of forgetting they exist when releasing supplements, and all of their kits haven't been updated? Oh, and why does Leman Russ come before Lion El'Johnson when the Primarchs are released?

Probably due to Dark Vengeance...it was very popular and a lot of those (very nice) tactical marines with the shoulder pads are available quite cheaply. As far as their model kits go, 7th edition gave us a good codex with pretty decent rules, buffing Ravenwing to competitive level.

I want a Lion El Johnson FW model too, but in terms of the events of the Heresy, the DA didn't really contribute much, and nothing at all to the Istvaan atrocities or Dropsite Massacre.

They were too busy chasing a goose to the other end of the Galaxy, then turning half the legion to Chaos, so that if Horus won they wouldn't be destroyed, but yeah, I agree. However, did the Smurflord contribute much?

Heretics don't deserve nice things.

Guilliman and the Ultras were hit hard early in the Heresy, but he did manage to create Imperium Secundus while the Imperium was ultimately split in half by a massive warp storm and cut off from the Astronomican.

It's frustrasting, but if we're honest, the DA just weren't really involved in the Heresy one way or the other, and the thing they're best known for (the Chapter splitting in half) was largely dealt with within the Chapter itself.

I'd chalk it up to being the legion that had the least impact on the heresy, which is kinda ironic given that the lion is the only loyalist primarch confirmed to not be dead. Actually surprised they held back Russ this long.

What kits need updating? Most of the DA specific kits are relatively new. GW makes a dark angels specific transfer sheet, and forge world sell a legion upgrade pack just like the others. To argue that they have been neglected is absurd...

Not to mention the number of 'dex specific models they have now.

Release order for the Legions in 30k is to do with the timeline of events. If there was any justice Russ and Magnus would have been much earlier on, and the Lion's major involvement in the Heresy was all the way at the end so he's in a pretty normal spot in the schedule.

And if you're complaining that the DA don't have stuff in Angels of Death, that's a book for the Chapters that don't have their own Codexes. As far as kits go there are entire Codexes that haven't gotten a new plastic kit since before the current DA range showed up, they're not high up the queue for replacements.

What do you mean all of their kits havent been updated? Other than a couple of heroes and kits shared with ALL OTHER CHAPTERS all of their stuff is very recent. They aren't in supplements for the same reason the Blood Angels and Black Templars (even though they are in the base codex) arent they aren't a basic Codex Chapter. Russ comes first because The Battle of Prospero is before The Lion gets involved in anything. They dont have transfers because they aren't the focus yet and have GW Transfers.

The Dark Angels are not the only ones. The Blood Angels, Thousand Sons and White Scars also have seen very little releases so far.
This is because FW can only make a limited amount of things at the same time, and therefore decided to focus on forces that are central to the narrative of the Horus Heresy first, and only make the less important forces later. The Dark Angels played only a small role in the Horus Heresy, and therefore are likely to be one of the, if not the last force that will have its transfer sheet, special unit and primarch models released.

DA already have a lot of sexy models as is, the only thing i think GW needs to look at changeing is the rules on terminators since they are week in general.

When compaired to units like the centurions which do all of what a terminator does but better and cheaper, and the fact eh DA have the largest (To my knowlege) Terminator force in the imperium, would be nice if they got some love.

Competitively the DA are a very good army. The last BaO was won by a dark angels army running the lions blade stroke force which is a very strong formation.

Tyranids have units in their base codex that do not have models in production at all. I.e shrikes. Who had fw wings. Had being the key word. Those wings are not in production.

I'd not worry too much, I'm sure they'll remove shrikes all together with the next Errata :(

...I've got two unique units, a Contemptor sculpt, Bray'arth Ashmantle, a Primarch, and Vulkan He'stan over here in Salamanders. You've got five special characters, two plastic vehicle dual kits, two plastic non-vehicle unit kits, plastic scuplted shoulder pads in addition to FW ones, and you're going to get at least two new unique units and multiple character series models when your Heresy book happens whilst I'm not going to get my own Codex with unique units released in plastic ever.

So...compared to other Chapters...you're second place in quantity of unique kits, first place in age of unique plastics, and you're complaining...why?

Because seeing SM, BA and SW get campaign over campaign and supplement over supplement when DA get not ONE ever is kind of grating.

Agree with the kits though.

FW has a plan and they are sticking to it.

SW are getting attention now because that's where they are in the Heresy.

DA will get a ton of attention after they cover the Siege of Terra when they do Luther and the Fallen Angels, just imagine an epic Lion'El vs Luther diorama with the world cracking under them!

Be patient their time will come.

Either that or FW just does whatever they feel like this week.
