Hi Guys!

So, in this thread i intend to post whatever models I'm currently working on, and right now, that is ORKS!
I enjoy remodeling and converting miniatures much more than I like to paint them. But my goal is to not only convert the models i buy, but to also base and paint them, we'll see how that goes!

Coming from the more organized imperial armies, the orks are so more dynamic with their make-shift make-work equipment and vehicles, and really gives you an opportunity to really go bananas on the conversions.

All the clans of the orks have so much character, the ones I really like are the commando like Blood Axes, and the speed freaks from the Red Suns.

Not really into the gaming part of the hobby, i still intend to finish a small game ready force of orks, just in case. Thinking something in the size of two mobs, one blood axe and one red sun (of course with a juiced up trukk), and some characters to accompany them!
Might just have to loot up a leman russ, just for good measure.

Anyhoe, time for some pictures!

First of, the big boss, a Blood Axes warboss with fine cut sideburns!

Based on the Grukk mini, i swapped the power klaw to the other arm, and gave him a boss like axe.

Next up, a Big Mek with the Dead shiny shoota, and a kustom force field. Not sure what clan he came from, but I'm guessing he's a deathskull!

Shot of the back, the power source for the KFF

The last character as of yet, is this Painboy!

A tankbusta and burna boy

Fuel tank of the burna boy

A lil' Mek for the burnas or the (future) lootas, with a kostum mega-blasta

On to the boys! First, Da Specialistz, blood axe mob, all guns (and chain weapons) supressed, of course.

Nobs kombi-skorcha

Grappling hook shoota

Da second mob, with the speed freaky red suns, rather unconverted. Havn't really come up with a good way of personalize them, except for hair knots, and a good red paintjob.

Lastly, a group shot of the tide so far!

There are some more pics in the gallery if you want to take a look!
BB's Green Tide!

I have to say, the ork kits are so fun to build from, many choices to make the model unique!

C&C welcome, the models are based for painting, so might put up some WIP-shots of painted models tonight!

Cheers!

Promised to much it seems..

Got stuck after the green parts was painted, and couldn't decide on what camo to paint the Blood Axes in, then i stumbled upon this picture:

THAT'S THE ONE!

Seeing as they don't know why camo works, just that it does, why not paint them in a red camo pattern?
Red camo, with a muted blue/grey armor, to differentiate them from the red/yellow Evil Sunz, might just work!

So, maybe some wip pics of painted boys could show up later tonight, fingers crossed!

I've also started scratch building a trukk for the Sneeky Blood Axes, pics WILL be up later!

Cheers!

Dude, these are some seriously clean and well executed conversions, nice work!! The level of detail you've gone to making your own parts rather than just hacking about existing plastic is highly commendable!! Looking froward to seeing them in paint but loving the work so far, and appreciate the oppurtunity to see them unpainted so as to be able to appreciate the handiwork underneath!!

BionicBrain,

Great conversions adding details to your Orks to make them unique. Looking forward to your first painted models.

Nuclear Mekanik & Captain Brown - Thanks so much, really appreciate the positivity! ^^ Seems i have to get a move on with the painting then!

But.. Tonight i focused on the thing that drew me to the orks, the scratch building!

So i present to you, my first trukk, or rather, as far as i have gotten on my first, scratchbuilt, trukk!

With nothing more then some great inspiration from this forum, and the internet, my vision was a armoured-looking trukk with a large transport area for my Blood axes.
I started with the frame, to have something to work from, and added some vertical beams to get a feel for the size of it.

Then i got the driver compartment blocked out, and added some spare parts from the bit box. I also measured out the platform where the boyz will go, at least 5 models will fit! (It looks a bit like a Turtle at this stage, the ninja kind)

A trukk this size needs som serious power, so I made this engine block, a solid V6, should get the boyz into action!
Not sure if it is to plain? Will have to search up some engine pictures for reference. As it will sit behind the cab, it will mostly be hidden behind the front of the platform, so i don't know. Maybe some valves on the end of the piston heads?

I still need to add some smaller tubes to the end of the pipes.

Last WIP-pic of the trukk!

What I don't know as of now, is what sort of undercarriage to put on the trukk.. I was thinking that I might build some tracks for the platform, and find some wheels for the front. Any ideas?

So, until the next post, cheers!

Hey!

With all ork models currently assembled, you would think that i will focus on getting some paint on them... Well, you'd be a little right, but I also made sure that I have enough to get me sidetracked from finishing that over the weekend!

Also seen in the picture, my make shift photo stage, and my Warboss with some paint on him!

So, presenting Warboss Ambroz Sideburna, Blood axe warboss! Or, at least some very wip pics of the colourscheme he will have!

So far I've only blocked out the camo, the skin and the metallics, and given them an appropriate wash. Not sure if the camo comes of more of a leopard track suit, or if it works?
Disregard the hazard stripes, i used a too big brush on the axe, so i will have to redo that base block before continuing.

He looks a bit ... bland? or, i don't think he really 'Pops'. His left shoulder pad I think will have black and white checkers, that might lighten up the model?

The metal parts will be given a rusty finish with some watered down orange colours, anyone got a good tutorial or tips for that?
I also tried to get a closer picture of the camo, but i see now that it had a bit of a glare on the model. It is black and grey spots over a red background!

Anyhoe, that's todays post, this weekend i hope to at least have Ambroz semi-finished, and of course, continue on the trukk!

Cheers!

Looking good so far, I especially like the idea with the sideburns, adds lots of character to the mini! Re: the rust, yeah, I found watered down orange a quite straightforward way to do this, orange plus one 'finer' wash with brown and then picking out some highlights or even light drybrushing with silver. Looking forward how this will shape up as an entire army!

Great looking Warboss!!

I think whats making him lack Pop is the abundance of silver. Orks don't look great with metallic armour, even the heavily armoured fantasy Black Orks generally have their armour plates coloured black or something with silver edge highlights.

He needs a strong colour for the armour plates, just my opinion.
