Hey there guys,

My FLGS is running a competition where you have 150pts to sink into an character that will duel others, you need to create a back story, build the model and everything.
Unique characters are allowed but its been discouraged.

Any idea what would be the most effective one? Was thinking about a thunder wolf mounted (50pts) Iron Priest (55pts) with 3 cyber wolfs (3x15pts).

Seems pretty cheesy with a ton of attacks (some rending) with no real draw backs, what do you guys think? I also love the idea of custom building an Ork Warboss so any suggestions would be amazing!

The board being played on is 4' x 4' with quite a bit of cover.

Thanks a lot and i cant wait to hear your ideas!

Sadly, an iron hands biker captain with a power fist, (or thunder hammer) and Gorgon's Chain will likely be the odds on winner of this competition. Secondarily you could put that same loadout on an iron hands librarian for giggles as well.

The bike isn't even a requirement, per-se. Just adds toughness and mobility.

Best of luck with it. I'd offer up something with Blood Angels but anything I bring to the table would die in one to two rounds of combat vs. the above Iron Hands character + Power Fist & Gorgon's Chain Relic.

Take it easy.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

Thousand Sons Lord on Disk with Seer's Bane.

At initiative Str10 AP2 daemon weapon and you're a T5 jetbike. No saves to speak of (3+/6++ but you can jink), but you're going to double out anything that's not an MC or Nurgle biker.

Save 5 points and make him a sorc for less fluff breakage but 1 less wound and lesser combat stats.

A Tau Commander could do decently with Irridium, 2x guns, Counterfire and VRT since not many people will expect shooting. Going to be difficult to keep him out of combat because everyone will have a bike for the toughness and movement boosts. Alternately, this is the one time a coldstar commander can shine since he becomes a FMC and most other opponents won't be able to shoot him down while he simply flies around raining fire with impunity.

If you want to be hated and break the spirit if not the rules, then an ML3 herald of Tzeentch on disk with Paradox would do it. Summon to your heart's content and pewpew mind bullets with any remaining dice and remain out of LoS forever because jetbike.

A solitaire could also be a nasty surprise if you hide for enough turns to make Blitz really nasty.

If no turn counter, then an Autarch with a jetbike and the relic sniper rilfe should cause a lot of problems for anyone who thinks melee beatsticks are the only true answer.

Dark Angel on bike with shroud of heros and your weapon of choice gains FNP and shrouded which is nice.

Seer's bane makes you use your leadership value and use it to wound against an opponent's leadership, not against their toughness. It does, however, have force, so if you put it on an exalted sorcerer you could do some damage.

Easily the best bang for your buck is the Destroyer Lord. He's T6 and AP2 at I2, hits often, and mobile.

I was gonna suggest a Wraithseer but then it turns out they come 185 points base (otherwise their T8 and S: D weapon would basically blow everyone else out the water, maybe short of the Super Smash Bros).

I would personally run either a Black Legion Juggerlord (with the Skull) or a World Eaters Juggerlord (with the Glaive) but that's just because I have an unhealthy love for a juggerlord.

If you wanna troll your opponent, maybe bring a Herald of Tzeentch and try rolling for the Possession power and then turn yourself into a GD mid-game. It would be hilarious if the enemy's 150 point noodle character is suddenly facing down a D-Thirster or a Lord of Change that can summon a legion of horrors.

Will it be following the Herohammer rules? (Everyone gets EW, if you already had it you get +1W etc)

Either way, Take Lelith Hersperax (Shes 150 points so JUST in)
Shes gonna Murder EVERYONE in Close Combat, but will suffer if shot at

Necron overlord, with a Voidreaper, Phase Shifter and Phylactery is 150pts on the dot.

He will always wound on 2+ due to fleshbane, with a reroll to one miss in CC as the Voidreaper is master crafted. Also, any opponent who is T3 Will be instagibbed as the Voidreaper gives +2S to all melee attacks with AP2. Ouch. With the phase shifter you are both 3+/4++/5+++ and also with the IWND special rule. That is serious staying power right there.

You will always go first against anyone with a power fist/thunder hammer/chain fist, but since you are T5, you can get instagibbed by S5 welders of said weapons. Pray your 4++ holds!

150 is tough. Most builds i just wrote uo are 160, 170.

So just to stay in this discussion, I always found korsarro kahn to be totally worth the cool 150 pts with his bike, hit and run, 3+ jink, d3 str 5 hammer of wrath, Furious Charge and power sword with instant death on 6s (plus Army wide Scout, and Troop Bikes)

This is kind of a dirty one but you could run a Necron Destroyer Lord with a Staff of Light. Three S5 AP3 shot a turn with Preferred Enemy Everything should land fairly often and being jumpack infantry makes it so you can jumpack move away after shooting making your opponent have to chase you. Give him a Tachyon Arrow (S10, AP1) and he has a good shot at one shoting most opponents while being toughness 6 keeps you safe from being one by the same sort of tactic. Last you could take Phylactery for It Will Not Die, or upgrade your Staff of Light to the Solar Staff now your shooting attacks cause blind and once per game you can force your opponent to make snapshot against you.

To those that say there is no stupid questions I say, "Is this a stupid question?"

Would Non-HQ single characters be allowed? Because the Solitaire would come to exactly 150 points if given haywire grenades (he doesn't have any other options under the points limit).

You can go all DBZ on the enemy with him.

A Lord Marshal could be an interesting possibility. He may only be T3 but he does have a 2+/3++ and a S6 powerfist at under 150pts, and you get to pick his Warlord Trait so go for Uncanny Survivor and have Eternal Warrior.

Most of the iconic duelist characters are going to run over 150pts. The Solitaire is an obvious choice, certainly; a lot of good options are Eldar (simply because they won't be running into the artificer/stormshield/powerfist Captain that just tanks them out and punches them to death, at that pricepoint).

You can also go with a Daemonkin Chaos Lord wielding Kor’lath, the Axe of Ruin. Give him a jump pack to just dive in and dare your opponent to remove his head.

Herald of Tzeentch, ML3, Disc, Locus of Conjuration. 145pts, never engage, just fly about blasting people with psychic powers. And summoning chariots.
