Having an issue, looking for the right wing perspective on what to do about it.

Am part of a professional community which will remain anonymous. There is a diversity group that uses the code of conduct to police other members.

A member was banned recently for reasons I strongly disagree with. The commotion brought me into conflict with other members. They are starting to drive hours to complain during my talks.

Four things:

1) Is there a common word or phrase people use to describe a community that has become too heavily policed? Am looking for one of those words ending in -tion that you don't find in the dictionary but adequately sum up the situation.

2) To throw bombs on the way out, or not to? Burning bridges is not a concern. 2 very prominent members of the community have engaged in worse, I happen to have the goods on them. Tell me what you would do and how you would do it, I need to hear the counterpoint to keeping my mouth shut.

3) Why is this bothering me so much? Members of the diversity group are really, really into feminism and believe policing other members is so important it cannot be discussed. It's like a cult and I can't shake off the feeling I am supposed to smash it.

4) Have been criticizing them with symbols. Does this register as a valid form of political statement at all?

Why do you need a right wing response specifically? Are you looking for generic right-wing, something that is just right-wing compared to the individuals you are dealing with, or a specifically Republican response?

BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: If people are genuinely being treated unfairly in this organization or association, I don't care if the people in charge are Liberal Feminists or Goose-Stepping Neo-Nazis- you have not only a good reason to 'drop bombs' and expose them, but a moral (and maybe even LEGAL) obligation to do so.

Usually, 'echo chamber' if it's policed 'for certain people'. Otherwise, places that are tone/thought policed are called 'empty'. I'm sorry, I can't really find a good word for you.

Depends- are you hurling 'bombs' or just slinging poop? If you're going out, and certain people have wrecked this professional community for you- and you legitimately have information that can wreck it on your way out? Do it, otherwise it's going to get worse.

I would say to be careful- depending on what degree of 'feminism' it is. Are they just saying guys shouldn't harass women or make raunchy jokes, report harassment? Then that's fine. Is it that whole 'women should get an extra 30% less work because we don't know how to understand the Department of Labor studies and we're dumb'? If so, then yeah. You need to smash it, because it's going to become toxic and people aren't going to function.

I didn't watch it. Careful, the word 'harassment' seems to have a lot of wiggle room these days.

OK, overall- you have to be really careful. People scream 'Feminism' when they see women just asking to be treated like regular people, and that's not right. Yes, there is that particular breed of loud feminism that goes bonkers and terrorizes people.

I am slightly confused. Could you rephrase your questions to be less vague, and could you specify in an other sentence why my political preference would me relevant to the answer.
Rephrasing it all to a sentence like "a guy at work pooped at the desk of a co worker just because she was a girl and now all feminists are demanding us to stop doing so" would help a lot in discussing the issue of whether you should or should not poop at the desk of your female co workers. .

I have to make assumptions here since you are way too vague.
There are three options as far as I see it.
1. This is a religious or ethnically group who try to enforce how others of the same group have to behave. This happens a lot around here and I do not like at all.
The best way to deal with them is to not interact with them or protest against it when possible.
2. This is a group who fights racial discrimination. They might have a point. At least try to listen to them, you might have to change your opinion on the issue.
3. This is a political correctness movement, who claims to be fighting discrimination but they are fighting for things that have nothing to do with discrimination. Such as if a comedian is allowed on campus or not, based on the jokes he makes. You know they are wrong, I know they are wrong but you can't win by going against them.
Just ignore them if you have the chance, treat them like trolls and have fun with those who do agree with you. Do not poke the wasps nest if unnecessary. Do only make your stance if you have to or and try to be civil when you do.

A member was banned recently for reasons I strongly disagree with. The commotion brought me into conflict with other members. They are starting to drive hours to complain during my talks.

Complaining when you are talking is just rude. Driving hours to do so is borderline lovecraftian insanity if you ask me.
.

To throw bombs on the way out, or not to?

This seems to be an illegal activity.

Members of the diversity group are really, really into feminism and believe policing other members is so important it cannot be discussed. It's like a cult and I can't shake off the feeling I am supposed to smash it.

There you go why didn't you lead with this, and just made a topic about how to deal with radical feminism.

4) Have been criticizing them with symbols. Does this register as a valid form of political statement at all?

Why on earth would you want to passive aggressively irritate feminists in a working environment with symbols.
Either have a talk about it or just ignore the subject. Do not pester or aggravate them.

youtube clip

You have a horrible taste of music. Thats all I can say about this video. It might be insanely offensive in your community, who knows. If it is please do not play it in front of those it offends.

Since you might be interested in it here is my political preference. I am Dutch and usually vote PvdA, Groen Links or SP. Those parties do not really translate well to the US system but those parties are on the left side of the political spectrum around here and are all proud to be called socialists.

They'll just ignore any right-wing code words they hear. Instead, identify the code words the group uses and use those against them.

What will dropping bombs or burning bridges actually accomplish? Will it fix the group? Will it cause the group to disband? Will it just make you look like an ass while everyone else goes on with their lives? Try to honestly examine what the outcome will be and ask yourself if it will be worth the effort or not.

But will you actually smash it? Will you just be screaming as you get tossed out the door? You can't force people to change their minds. That's impossible. So why do you feel the need to?

 techsoldaten wrote:

I suggest you arm yourself with facts instead of symbols. Regardless, partisans of any variety (left or right) rarely listen to opposing views, especially views that don't have hard facts to back them up.

Here is my main question. Are you done with this group? If so, I suggest you just leave them behind and not worry about it. You can get into a pissing contest with them if you want but you'll be better off the sooner you walk away and get on with your life.

Ita more a echo chamber as they have no alternating opinions or very little to oppose the.. The other opinion is only one that bounces about and then without much counter point yes peoples views can become tilted, without thr counterweight to swing things back against and mantain more of a balence.

This is a rather complex one but If a smaller professional community dropping toe nukes and napalm on the bridges nay not be best plan ever.

If it's sexism, racism, homophobia etc, then I'd suggest you suck it up and just get on with your life.

Also right wing is very wide and diverse as the diversity lot probbly.
It can vary from moderate beliving trump should secure borders, protect American jobs and such.

Or at extreme end. 10 reasons why Jews are evil and the gas chambers are a lie.

.

Lastly your placement on the right to left line is not fixed, depending on the other persons place it varies.
So I could say Trump should secure thr border and prevent illegals.

To far left in pretty right, to middle I'm either shrug yeah, pr I disagree but your not a loon.
To far right I'm way too soft and we should hunt them with apache gunships you fool.

Sure. Keeping some things vague to prevent spillover.

Someone was asked to leave the community - which is less of a request and more of a GTFO. He is into a form of BDSM that holds men are superior to women. He was asked to leave on the grounds his beliefs are incompatible with the principle of equality. Afterwards, a number of people claimed this was because of specific actions on his part, but those claims contradict themselves.

My take is the accsued was banished for his beliefs. I am against that and feel a need to stand up for him and other members in the community. This has earned me some (proper) criticism and (improper) harassment.

The people doing the banning concern me. There is a process that seems clear and well spelled out. When you talk to the people involved, you get a different perspective - no two of them can agree on what actually happened, what a ban actually means, what he did, whether or not anyone has ever been banned before, or anything other than the idea the process works and we need bans to protect members of our community. It's defenders look at this as a communications issue and put out constant clarifications about the policies. I have an Atticus Finch moment every time they do, it looks more like a lynch mob than something concerned with justice.

I am a politically active leftist in the US and realize this colors my view of the situation. One of the questions that comes up is misogyny, and whether it is right to have someone with those beliefs in the community. I recognize this is a serious question that affects other members of the community - people I care about - but I definitely come down on the side that someone should not be thrown out for having ideas.

Your perspective would be appreciated because I feel like I need some other points of view from the outside, but not necessarily ones that agree with my own. This like losing my religion, people who were my friends have become enemies, there are sides that were not there a month ago. It is painful.

To state the questions more directly:

1) I have heard terms like feminazi and islamofascist in the past. What words does the Right have to offer that describe a community that is over policed? I feel like it would end with -tion.

2) I possess information on other community members activities. It's worse than the beliefs the person was thrown out for. I believe it would be wrong to release it, but the lizard part of my brain suggests fantasizing about doing so would be cathartic. Would love to hear how someone else would do it.

3) I am taking a side - beliefs are your own. There is another side - bans are a protection from misogony and some ideas are too much. Most of the people holding this view are committed feminists. Tell me your thoughts on why either side is right. I am exploring my own thoughts and struggling right now.

4) Georgie Dann was the biggest pop star under the Franco regime. His videos are awful. I have been using it to parody the intent of the other side, suggesting their use uniforms and catchy tunes to enforce perceptions of their power. It's really saying they are fascists. What would you do?

How about this for an example of harassment. I was assisting an organization protesting nuclear weapons, and the bombing of Libya.
Printing leaflets, and doing artwork etc. I was constantly harassed by some female members, (VEGANS).
They objected to my jacket, my boots, My means of transport. Now one of these was a teacher, so a level of intelligence was assumed.
They pointed out my use of leather, and eating habits. Supported cruelty to animals, and if we all gave up meat and leather products.
All those cattle could graze un-harassed. I pointed out that if we all became vegetarians, all those cattle would be slaughtered, as the land would be needed for crops.
Eventually I stopped going there as it was too much hassle

Is this similar to what your getting ?

Yes, but involves censorship. Complaints to Twitter, removing posts from forums, packing the house at public speeches, complaining to event hosts that they feel threatened, taking my points and misconstruing them, calling me names, etc.

From people I have known for more than a decade.

2. It sounds like you're in either a "Hippy commune" or an "open relationships" group. Regardless of what they've done, if they haven't outed any one else, you shouldn't either.

3. You can take a side and show solidarity by leaving and then saying "I'm leaving because you treated John this way. Here are the 4 examples of why you're a bag of used condoms."
