Is it just me or does terrain lack depth it 8th edition. It's like "aunt no mountain high enough to stop me from getting to you".

Yeah GW decided they don't want to deal with terrain to speed up. Since single turn takes more time they needed to make sure game takes less turns to complete to "speed the game up".

Terrain is there just to look pretty. Much like where models themselves are heading forward. Look pretty, no real meaning.

It's the new candy-land of wargames.

Next edition, we will just draw colored cards from a stack to attack and you get a bonus draw if you make a little "pu chuu" sound with your mouth when you fire.

That would satisfy those moaners who complain about every little thing slowing the game down

It is a shame, though, that less in this edition seems to matter than it did in the past. The whole point of having a codified, constructed rule system is so things mattered more than, well, when we were kids going pew pew at each other's army men toys.

What's more is terrain making is always the most enjoyable bit to me - a well-terrained table at 500 points beats the snot out of scraggly nothingland at 1500 points.

Codex: Soyuzki - A fluffy guidebook to my Astra Militarum subfaction. Now version 0.6!
Another way would be to simply slide the landraider sideways like a big slowed hovercraft full of eels. -pismakron

Out-of-the-loop from November 2010 - November 2017 so please excuse my ignorance!
