I fell for it. GWs clever wee "look, you only need a few models... and the Primaris dudes are pretty new and swanky, go on, ye will ye will ye will." marketing scam that is Kill Team. As with Necromunda I may never play a game, but it gives me an excuse to.play about a bit and paint something big and chunky.

So I fumbled some models.and the rules off eBay and here i am. It's probably not super optimised but I'm planning on the following:

Reiver Sgt as leader with carbine, grapple and big knife

Comms Intercessor with auto bolt rifle
Demo Intercessor gunner with auto bolt rifle and grenade launcher
Combat Intercessor Sgt with auto bolt rifle, boltpistol and power sword

Mook intercessor gunner with a stalker rifle and grenade launcher
Mook Reiver with carbine and grapple

So everything can put out a fair amount of ranged pain, with comms to help out as needed, and 2 team members that can really get stuck in.

I'm just going for a simple set up model.wise. I picked.up the 2 lieutenants that I've stripped of bling and given helmets to. I'll use the autobolter lt as the comms guy as he's got the somewhat larger aggressor helmet added. The power sword dude is pretty self.explanatory. I've fiddled with an easy to build dude to make the stalker gunner and done a stock but dynamic Reiver as the Leader.

And the colour scheme is intended to match my old Terranwing force in the unlikely event I ever play 40k again I can field them.together and look reasonably matched up.

Oh Yeah, I also.won a load of kromlech resin bases for about half price, so basing should be quick and simple.too. I might even finish this project...

Some progress. Had the airbrush out tonight for base coating.

Red vs blue?

Finally gotten the mojo together to finish my Kill Team leader. I'm happy with it over all but i thinkni can improve on the weathering for his reivery friend that is yet to join him.

Cross posted from the p&m forum

I thought that my team could do with some more oomph but I wanted to keep with primaris models. So a reiver done as a scout with a ML. A couple of simple tweaks to the helmet and leg and a Guard missile launcher modified a bit to taste. I think the slimmed down launcher works pretty well and matched the Reiver arms nicely. I had to trim the guys left arm a bit at the wrist to .akeit fit but I dont think its too obvious.

GS camo cloak to come

Second Reiver finished. Still not super happy with the weathering, but it's not enough to make me want to start again

Now back to the boys in blue and grey (I.e. my Intercessor...)

So I got distracted from painting by building a few more mooks to round out the team.

A sniper scout sergeant. I need to add a cloak to this guy but might wait until ive painted it so I can glue it all together properly before getting the GS out. The wrist join is a bit dodgy but I don't think anyone will notice with some paint on it.

Again I've based this guy on a Reiver to go with the recoiless rifle (missile launcher) guy, who now has a few reloads kicking about to be used. Who k we that the Carl Gustav was alive and well in the 41st millennium

I've also just done a standard reiver and an autobolter gunner with GL to bulk out the team. Minimal conversions on these guys for the sake of construction speed.

C&C welcome.

Ah, the call of killteam and the new marines got another one, it's become such a popular game that it's replaced 40k and AoS as the game of choice at the local GW. Have yet to try it myself but it's tempting.

I think you've put together a really cool set of models, I like the fore grips on the bolters and the scouts you've made from the reivers are very good, they always strike me that they should have been the new scouts.

Thanks. The fore grips on the Reiver carbines were there already so that's not me The other bolters have auxiliary grenade launchers.

Progress!

Counts as scouts done and dusted. Rather happy with how the camo came out.

Double camo on this guy for twice the invisibility

Moving back to my BSF guys for now, so the rest of the team will have to wait a bit longer.

Those are nice urban ruin bases, but should’t there be models on them?

Nice work on the camo, and the conversion in total.

@Nevelon - well exactly

Thanks both for the kind words. I got worried after the first layer of light grey blotches that they would just look like big cow marines, but the mid grey layer evened it all out nicely.

The snipers wrist is still dodgy as back, but over all it looks fine from a distance

Your camo looks great. I'm curious to what your technique is. Any time I do camo, I screw it up- I'm inconsistent. It will look like different kinds of camo patterns on different plates or sections of armor.

I tend to do blotchy type camp. Just remember to do some splotches in the centre of plates and areas and some overlapping edges. I think consistency on shape type is useful, but there are a few examples out there of changing disruptive patterns.

Then i just do progressively smaller patches until I get to black which gets kind of scribbled on like 80s and 90s NATO woodland patterns.

Check out camopedia as well. Loads of inspiration.

I'm actually trying to make a sort of camo pattern on some cloaks similar to Cryptek camo. I think I've got the right idea on how to do it.

If not, then when I start making stuff for these Marines' cloaks and vehicles, I can probably use a 'decal dunk' method like they use on rifle furniture for the same effect.
