It's a new year, so let's post what we painted last year, and motivate ourselves to paint this year!


Tau, Eldar*, Space Marines, Admech, Terrain and Endless Spells!

*Caveat: 10 Guardians were finished January 1st, but I'm still counting them.

This was what I painted in November-December of last year. I restarted playing/painting back in late November, so about 1 month's work.

Since I took this picture last week, I also painted a basilisk, 6 mortar teams, a 10 man infantry squad, a techpriest, and Creed.

Wow, Horst, you're on fire!

I got back into WH40K after a 25 year break, starting with First Strike:



Then I began putting together an Ultramarines army:

My 2018 result was 96 miniatures. I'll consider trying to find a way to photograph them together. Not a great score compared to the past two years where I had 200+, but my main armies are more or less finished so it's just smaller project nows.

I started my MBA part-time in the fall of last year and front-loaded my first few terms, up until around the summer months, so not a lot of hobby was done until around May/June, when I was able to get more free-time again. So the quantity of hobby done for 2018 is not my best, although it was around May/June that we had a Sergio Calvo seminar over a weekend that allowed me to explore and integrate a new painting technique into my repertoire.

Not the greatest pictures, and my collection is scattered around between my apartment and the LGS, so I'm not going to be able to get a collection shot for this.

What did i paint in 2018??? no where near as much as I bought or already owned!!!

I only got back into the hobby in April after a 15 year break, with a short relapse about 8 years ago, starting with my old Black Legion then bouncing back to my even older Dark Angels. Trying to balance both at the moment but heres what i got through fully.

Damocles Command Rhino with a full cockpit built inside
Primaris Librarian from Conquest
Original Space Marine from the Skullz collection way back when, repainted in Dark Angel Legion colors
Dark Vengeance Tactical squad, I'm giving these a pass coz only the sergeant is highlighted
Chaos Obliterator, only had 2 so needed a 3rd to make a legit squad
Dark Angels Master, another repaint
Cypher, first model I bought and painted back in April
Chaos Dreadnought converted from a Space Marine about 8 years ago and never finished
Fallen originally bought as DA veterans bout 10 years ago and never painted
Cultists from Dark Vengeance

And what i have acquired over the last year and not yet painted/finished:
- 3 Ravenwing bikes, 5 Deathwing Terminators, Librarian, Chaplain, Master, Chaos Lord, 5 Chaos Chosen, 10 Cultists and Chaos Dreadnought all from Dark Vengeance
- 3 Primaris Lieutenants (conquest, 500th store & wake the dead) undercoated
- Primaris Captain, just needing highlights
- Primaris Repulsor, undercoated
- 12 Khorne Berserkers
- 10 Bloodletters
- Bloodthrone
- Kabuki Studio Lion Knight about 75% done
- Colonel Schaefers Last Chancers, got a baragin couldnt say no!!!
- Old Space Marine Vindicator, stripped, rebuilt and started to paint but got sidetracked

Then theres the stuff i have from years ago thats unfinished which mostly consists of 40 odd Cadians, a guard tank i dont remember the name of, a handful of Chaos Marines, a few assault marines and bikers

And to top off my lists of shame I have a Wargame Exclusive Master of Crusade and the new Noise Marine en route and i have plans to possible buy a Knight of some sort on the next few weeks

I think I have a problem

Not quite as much as 2017, but good quality and a nice mix of stuff.

Collages are cool, anyway this is the main stuff I got done over 2018. 2nd Orks, Some Old Tyranids for a kill Team game, Gaslands cars and a very old Chaos Sorcerer.

I'm a on and off kind of person with this hobby. I only did maybe 4 or 5 models, some in part, 3 entirely.

That Chaos Sorcerer is a classic! I wish GW would re-do it.
